were mailed this week to all senior citizens
receiving the federal Old Age Security
pension. If you are eligible, complete the
application and return it as quickly as you
can. Your Grant will soon be on the way.
These Property Tax Grants of up to $500
help offset municipal and school taxes for
Ontario's Senior Citizens. There is also a Sales
Tax Grant of $50 each for every senior
citizen starting in 1980. For seniors, these
Grants replace Ontario Tax Credits pre-
viously claimed by filing income tax returns.
PROPERTY
TAX GRAMS
You are eligible for an Ontario Property
Tax Grant if:
• You are 65 years of age or older and
• You paid rent or property taxes on
your principal residence in 1980.
HOW MUCH DO YOU RECEIVE?
UP TO $500, STARTING IN 1980.
• If you own your principal residence
your grant will equal the amount of your
property taxes or $500, whichever is less.
• If you share your home with anyone
other than your spouse, the grant will be
apportioned according to rent or property
tax paid.
EXCEPTIONS: Only one grant will be paid
to a married couple or to unmarried seniors
sharing accommodation. People living
in homes for the aged or similar insti-
tutions are not eligible for this grant.
SALES TAX GRAMS
A $50 grant will be paid annually to every
senior citizen.

held the first Early Bird
Draw '"of their lottery on.
Saturday, August 16 at the
Belgrave Arena, The winner
of the $300.00 prize was. Dr.
Andrew Manson of London
Ontario. The lottery is being
held to raise money for the
expansion of the. Belgrave
.Communtly Park and tickets
are still available for future
draws from any Kinsmen
member.
The August meeting of the.
afternoon unit of the U.C.W.
held in the school room of
Knox United Church fea-
tured the annual birthday
party . for those of the
community who have cele-
brated an 80th birthday.
Sixteen specially invited
guests were seated at the
u-shapea table glittering
with silver and aglow with
sweet peas, carnations and
baby's breath.
Mrs. Cecil COultes gave a
special welcome. Thank you
to those who provided trana-
portation for the seniors.
and to those who assisted in
arranging the party.
Mrs. Coultes continued
with a meditation using these
lines: We are not store-
rooms, but channels; •
We are not cisterns but
springs;
Passing our benefits onward,
Fitting our blessings with
wings.

years are well filled with

accompanied . by Mrs.

Heather Morton. All joined
in community singing led by
Clarke Johnston.
Two cakes with lighted
candles were cut by two of
the honoured guests. Mrs.
William Kelly and Mrs.
Elizabeth Leslie. When all
joined hands to form a circle
around the seated guests.
Happy Birthday was sung.
Howard Wilkinson, on
behalf of all present spoke
words of appreciation.

on Tuesday with her uncle
Leslie Bolt, who it a patient
in the Wingham and District
Hospital. They were also
guests of Mrs. Leslie Bolt of
Belgrave,

Huronview, Clinton.

A meeting of the Belgrave
Blyth and Brussels School
Fair Board was held In the
Belgrave Community Centre
on Thursday evening to final-
ize plans for the 60th anni-
versary of the School Fair
which will be held in Bel-
grave on Saturday, Septem-
ber 13.
We sincerely hope that
many . former teachers and
-students from this commun-
ity will come back and join in
the celebration with us.
Special events include a
parade starting at 1:00 p.m,
and •a barbeque to conclude
the afternoon.

you automatically before September 1980.
An information pamphlet, outlining the
program has been mailed to you.
Your Sales Tax Grant will be mailed to
you automatically before October 1980.
