JOINT SERVICE
A joint service was held at
Knox United Church on Sun - 1 day morning with members ,

by fire at Murray Blake's
farm north of Walton recent-
ly.
The fire was caused by
overheating hay. According
to Sharon Blake, the haylage
had been treated against

departure to their new home
in Wingham.

mentioned the high esteem
held by the community for
them, their participation in
Belgrave endeavours, and

Mr. Blake suffered black-
outs at the time of 'the fire
August 3 and was taken to
hospital. Mrs. Blake's sister,

recognized.
On behalf of the
community, Glen requested
Jim and Marj to accept gifts.
In his reply to the address
Jim, after expressing their
thanks, referred to his wife,
his family and his employees
whom he considered
"family".
Each had assisted him in
attaining his goal. To be
successful in any endeavour,
each of us must set a goal
and then strive to reach' it.He
stated that the progress of a
thriving community depends
on its children, its church
and its school.

Mrs. Blake said the barn
which was only partially
damaged was fully insured
and only the first cut of hay
(approximately 2,500 bales)
was lost. The Blakes operate
a dairy farm 1% miles north

week motor trip through the

the Alaska Highway.

Northern Ontario where they

held on Sunday at the home

Hour" and "The Lord's My
Shepherd" were played on
the bag pipes by Charles
Procter followed by Ron and
Wayne Lockie of Gorrie,
members of the Listowel
Secondary School choir who
sang.

Mr. and Mrs. George

Ilderton spent the week-end

mained with her parents for a
few days before returning to
their home.
