Julia Marie HiCks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earle
Hicks of Listowel and Steven Robert Coulter, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Coulter of Listowel, were married in. St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Listowel by Father
Caruana and assisted by Rev. Harry Stevens on. June 28 at
4 p.m. The maid of honor was Barbara Somerville of
Elmira. The bridesmaids were Patti Hicks of Listowel and
Sue VanSickle of Listowel. The groomsman was Allan.
Bragg of Elmira and ushers were Terry Coulter and Ken
Hicks of Listowel. The organist was Mrs. Delford
Chapman and the soloist was Paula Hale. Following the
wedding, a reception was held at the Atwood Community
Centre. Guests attended from London, Sarnia, /vIilverton,
Brussels, St. Marys, Lucan, Thamesford, Woodstock and
Welesley.. Following a wedding trip to northern Ontario,
the couple will reside in Brussels.

Obituaries
WHITE—SEMPLE
Mr. and Mrs. Dan White were united in marriage on
June 21, 1980, at Melville Presbyterian Church.
The bride is the former Janice Semple, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Semple of R.R. 1, Ethel. The groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. John White of Newfoundland.
The couple are residing in Cambridge.

MePONALD—CUISTNIINIGHAM
Wesley Willis United Church, Clinton, was decorated
with mums, gladioli, and ferns for the July 12 union of
Marlene Ann Cunningham and Donald Bruce, McDonald.
Marlene is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M.
Cunningham, Clinton, and Bruce is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Donald McDonald, R.R. 2, Brussels.
Reverend John Oestreicher officiated the double ring
ceremony with Cathie Potter playing traditional wedding ,
music. Graeme Craig and Donald McDonald were soloists.
Gayle Cunningham, sister of the bride, was maid of
honour. The bride was also assisted by Dianne Miller,
sister of the bride, Patti Kay, London, friend of the bride
and Jeanne McDonald, sister of the groom.
The groomsman was Phil Blake, Kitchener, friend of the
groom. The guests were ushered into the church by Jim
McDonald, brother of the groom, Paul Storey and Brad
Sterining, North Bay, friends of the groom. A reception
followed at the B.M.G. Community Centre in Brussels. ,
Joe Cunningham, uncle of the bride, was master of
ceremonies.
Prior to the wedding the bride and groom were feted at
showers hosted by Piet and Rose Leomans and Phil and
Dianne Blake, Mary Reuther,, Brussels, Mary Jean Beattie
and Marg Fleming, and Shirley and Patti Kay.
Guests attended from Florida, Toronto, Ottawa, North'
Bay, Delhi, London, Kitchener and Michigan.
Following a honeymoon to North Bay and • Ottawa„ the
couple will reside in Wingham, where Bruce works for Keil
Insurance and Marlene will be teaching in Belgrave.

Bevan Elliott died sudden-
ly at Westminister Hospital
(RI July 15th in his 87th year.
t:o was a veteran of World
./Var ' , later a farmer until he
nought out the grocery busi-
less of the late Mr. Ross,
.vhich he operated for appox-
imately 30 years before retir-
ing to his home in Brussels.
He was a member of the
Anglican Church, also a
harter member of the Cana-
dian Legion.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Bertha Welsh,
three sons and two daugh-
ters: Ross of Mississauga,.
Bert and Ted of Morris
Township, Evelyn Jarvis of,
Amberley and Marie Lucas
of St. Marys; also 13 grand-
children, 5 , great grand-
children, 2 sisters and 3
brothers.
He was predeceased by 2
sisters, 2 brothers and 4
grandsons,
The late Bevan Elliott
rested at Watt's Funeral
Home where the Royal
Canadian Legion held their
memorial service Thursday
night. The body was then
taken to St. John's Anglican
Church on Friday where the
service was held with Rev.
Swan of Wingham as
encumberent. Burial fol-
lowed in Brussels Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grand-
sons Ted Elliott, Bob Lucas,
Bradley Lucas, Jim Collins,
Rob Burkholder, and Bob
Nolet.
Flower bearers were
granddaughters Kathy Burk-
holder, Velma Elliott, Donna
Elliott, Linda McVitie, Carol
Collins, Patricia Sheldon,
Evelyn Nolet and Roberta
• Barnum.
MRS. MARY STEPHENSON
Mrs. Mary Stephenson
died in Httronview, Clinton,
on Saturday, July 12. She
was 96 years of age.
Born in Morris Township
she was the daughter of the
late John and Rebecca Jack-
Son.
Surviving are a step-
daughter, Aileen Chapman
of Listowel and step-son
Harvey Stephenson of Walk-
erton, also three nieces and
two nephews.
She was predeceased by
her first husband, Milton
Rands and her second hus-
band Wesley Stephenson;
two sisters, Mrs. Annie
Forsyth of Brussels and Mrs.
Emma Armson, Saskatch-
ewan and two brothers
George Jackson •of Walton
and Harry Jackson of Kitch-
ener.
Funeral service was held
from the M.L. Watts Funeral
Home, Brussels Chapel on
Tuesday, July 15th at 2:00
p.m., conducted by Rev, K.
Innes. Interment was in
Brussels Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John A.
Perrie, Ken Tyerman, Lloyd
Wheeler, Bill Stephenson,
Dick Stephenson and Jack
Mitchell.
MURRAY M. VODDEN
Murray Michel Vodden of
London passed away in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London,
on Thursday, July 17th, 1980
in his 51st year. He was born
in Grey Township.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Gloria Clark of
939 Western Road, London,
his mother, Mrs. Velma Vod-
den of London and two
nephews, Brad and Bev Vod-
den. He was predeceased by
his father Bert Vodden and
two brothers, Ross and Lav-
erne, both of London.
The Funeral service, con- ,
ducted by Rev. John Roberts
was held from the M.L.
Watts Funeral. Chapel, Brus-
sels, on Sunday, July 20th at
2:00 p.m.

Reeve Fred Haberer of
Zurich has announced he will
be running for the top pos-
ition on Huron County coun-
ciL
Haberer said he made the
announcement that he will be
seeking the warden's chair at
the July meeting of county
council.
The owner of Haberer
Concrete Vaults is a nine
year veteran of Zurich coun-
cil, seven of those as reeve.
He said he decided to run
for warden as it would tie in
nicely with Zurich's 125th
anniversary which takes
place in 1981;
One of the major chal-
lenges which will face
Huron's 1981 warden will be
the reorganization of the

deputy-reeves from county
council, Haberer stated.
If elected, Haberer would
be the first Warden from
Zurich and would also be
among a select group of
wardens in recent years who
have not represented the
townships.
Also announcing his can-
didacy at the July meeting
was Reeve Harold Robinson
of Howick township.
The present warden is
Reeve Bill Morley of Usborne
township while Hay township
Reeve Jack Finney was in the
top position during 1979.
County council will elect
the 1981 warden at their
December Meeting..
Over 30 members of Morn-
ing Star Rebekah Lodge met
Monday afternoon to have
their annual picnic on the
lawn at the home of the
Noble Grand, Janet
McCutcheon. During the
afternoon, the entertainment
committee—Mary Lowe,
Sarah Stephenson and. Barb
McCutcheon—kept everyone
in a hilarious mood with their
program.
Corsages were presented
to a former member, Anne
Myers of Saskatoon for com-
ing the farthest and Norma
McNair, member coming the
farthest, Verna Thomas, Dis-
trict Deputy President and
Annie Thynne the Member
Of Honour for the day as it
was her 80th birthday.

joyed.
Rebekahs honor
members 'at picnic
Card tables were set up on
the lawn and all enjoyed a
pot luck picnic supper. Sister
Thynne was presented with a
gift and decorated birthday
cake from the Lodge. All
enjoyed the cake and ice
cream to end a lovely after-
noon.
