La Leche League Belgrave
met at the home of Mrs.
Myra Stuart on July 15th to
discuss "Family and the
,Breastfed Baby". The moth-
er , bared ideas for getting
rea, • for the arrival of a
new baby. Mrs.. Barbara
Kerr, leader, noted that
many useful hints were given
in chapter two of the
Womanly Art:of Breastfeed-
mg. It was felt that the more
preprations done before the
birth of the baby, the easier
the acceptance of that new-
born into the family.
It was found that the
birthing experience of a
mother can affect her nurs-
ing relationship, and the
advantages of early nursing
were explained. Both parents
and baby benefit from nat-
ural childbirth.
Positive aspects of family
life were covered, with an
emphasis on couples being
both companions and par-
ents.
An invitation was extend-
ed for a Couples' Picnic at
Point Farms on August 10th,
noon for a pot luck dinner.
