John said Toronto
audiences are much different
than those in Blyth.
"In Toronto I don't enjoy
the audience nearly, as much,
there's kind of a haughty,
sophistication about them."
"What amazes me about
Blyth is the kind of charact-
ers that lie beneath the fabric
of the town," he said. "ft's
a town full of life."
A National Theatre School
graduate in 1977, John has
done most of his work in
Ontario with the exception of
a recent tour of England with
The Farm Show.
"There is a fun side of
seeing new places," he said.
"The tour in Britain was a
real adventure for me."
He said as a vegetarian

John, back for his second
season in Blyth, describe .s
his work on the collective
production The Life That
Jack Built as exciting.
"Collectives are exciting,
they're wonderful to do;" he
said. "It knocks around ideas
in your head, you meet the
people the play is about, you
make contact."
In researching the collect-

of painter, writer Jack

travelled to Toronto and
Ottawa to do research at the
national war archives.

Canadians where so import-

that at one point the
Americans were-just sitting
back making money."
