The Brussels• Optimists are; sponsoring
something new in* the community and the
Club hopes it will become an annual event.
The, Optimists are 'promoting Molson's
NW-Tractor Pall and they'are also going to
have an Antique Tractor , Show and Pull as
'well, if ..enough, people participate.
Taking place on Sunday, July 6 at 1 p.m.,
,at the Brussels; Fairgrounds, all points and
prizes are sponsored through Molson's and
there are four different classes in the pull.
• DonBray and Gary Elston are chairmen oithe -
event and Mr. Bray said they're hoping they
can get enough interest in the antique
tractors so that they can possibly hold it
another year.
The antique 'clasi is open to anyone from
Nuclear Tower will get a
public hearing starting July
8, but one of a different sort.
Ted Johns' latest play, St.
Sam of the. Nuke Pile, opens
at the Blyth Summer Festival
on that date. '
The play is an
examination, of nuclear
power in general and the .
Bruce Nuclear Power Devel-
opment in particular. It
centres, however, not on the
facts and figures of fuel" rods
and millirems, but on the
more hnman aspect of nuc-
lear power as an awesome
force. that shapes the lives of
all of us..
Ted Johns is well-known in
the area as both a writer and
performer. He single ,hand-
edly created and performed
The School Show, originally
written for The Blyth Sum-
mer Festival 1978. The.
School Show had an im-
mensely successful tour in
the spring of this year, and
played to full and appreci-
ative houses in Toronto and
all over Southwestern Ont-
ario.
Mr. Johns' author
credits also include the ver-
sion of The Death *of The
Donnellys that played to sold
out houses at the Blyth
Summer Festival in 1979.
Although Mr. Johns is not
performing in St. Sam of the
Nuke Pile, his latest play
bears the unmistakeable
stamp of his work - a
balanced and thought-
provoking treatment of a
controversial subject but)
most important, couched in a
humourous and entertaining
form. Both "Nukes" and
"Antinukes" will have lots to
talk about after viewing this
play.
The play is directed,by
Miles I.otter, who • rst
appeared as an actor in this
area with the original pro- •
duction of The Farm Show;
and with subsequent Theatre
• Passe Muraille productions
el 1837 The Farmers Revolt

In, order to ,get the :event gOing, the -
optimists phoned the Canadian Mini-
' Tractor Pull Association and let them know. t
they were interested in having the members
come up to Brussels to put on, a show. Mr.
.:Bray said there are supposed to be 28
members involved in the Association.
The Optimist's Club is, required to put up
$1200 to pay expenses for .the members to
come to. Brussels. The Club will provide a
lunch booth.
Money raised from the events will go into
the Optimist's Community Fund.
Potter's directing credits in- ,
elude the prOduction of Les.
Canadiens which. toured 'to
Blyth Memorial Hall in the
winter of 1979, and , The .
Words of my Roaring at
Theatre*Calgary this spring.
'The cast includes • Tom
Arnott, ,Seatia. McKenna,
Williani Dunlop and' John
Jarvis. Tickets for St. Sam of
