Glais Association's aim is to
encourage learning, to en-
lighten and to understand old,
carnival glass: to increase
and promote friendship with
dealers and collectors of old
carnival glass and to give all
an equal opportunity to par-
ticipate in new discoveries
and to learn the histories of
the same.
Any interested persons,
any dealer or collector shall
be eligible to become a
member. Present member-
ship is 112.
Ontario has approx. 55
members, the remainder be-
ing from B.C. Alta. Sask.
Man, Quebec, N. S. Nfld.,
and U.S.A.
The meeting was presided
over by Pres. Janet Knet f'-
el, R.R. 1, Bresleau; Heather
Helm, Ancaster, Sec.
The topic for the meeting
was "plates." with special
"Emphasis on Chop Plates."
Eighteen members were pre-
sent each in turn, describing
to the meeting their particul-
ar pieces of old Carnival,
they brought with them, also
these include ferneries,
bowls.
After the meeting was
adjourned, the members
held a social time, when
lunch was served and the
antiques and old glass on
display were discussed.
'Melville
Ladies to take
summer off
The June meeting of Mel-
ville Ladies Aid was held at
the home of Mrs. Wm. King
Sr. with 12 ladies present.
Mrs. Walter Kerr, as
leader, opened the meeting
with the singing of "Blest be
the tie that binds". Mrs.
Kerr read a poem "A day at
a time..
The scripture was read by
Ruby Steiss followed by
prayer by Adeline Smith.
The financial report was read
by Berva Dennis and the
Sunshine report by .Ethel
Long. A reading "A , new
lease o .n marriage" was
given by Elsie Evans. A
poem "At wits end" was
read by Hazel Matheson.
There will be no meeting
in July and August and the
September meeting will be at
Hazel Matheson's house.
Mrs. King played two
instrumentals "Beautiful
Thoughts" and "Mount of
the Holy Cross". Refresh-
ments were served by Mable
Smith and Glenna Stevens
assisted by the hostess.
