a given area.
Surveys of small towns and
villages like Brussels, Blyth,
Seaforth, Wingham,
Belgrave and Whitechurch
have been completed and
according to Janice it is
obvious that a more
organized system of
transportation is needed.-
The students have found.
Walsh won the academic
awards. The Citizenship
awards went to Dianne
Hanna and Willie Dowson.
Johanna VanCamp and Brad
Shobbrook were given the
congeniality awards.
The certificate seals were
won by Bonnie Burchill and
Dianne Nethery. After this
the choir sang "Yesterday"
and "For All We Know".
Mr. Lisle introduced the
guest speaker, Jack Kopas,
who gave a very educational
speech. Johanna Van Camp
that there's not even a taxi in
Brussels and while Seaforth
does have such a service, the
seniors felt there should 'be
more transportation that just
one taxi.
Blyth has its own type of
transportation set up with
five volunteers who will drive
the seniors to their chosen
destination.
expressed her appreciation
for his speech.
This was followed by And-
rew Walsh playing "I'm
Leaving" on the piano. Fol-
lowing this was the vale-
dibtorian address by Elis-
abeth Otto, and the present-
ation of diplomas. The final
numbers of the evening were
two piano solos "Music Box
Dancer" and "The Enter-
tainer"' by Joanne Wood.
Some of the class went back
to the school for a dance
which lasted until 10:30 p.m.
The students are now
studying the southern part of
Huron County.
The second half of the
program will be spent setting,
up a self-supporting model in
communities where a new
system is required and where
there is a need, the students
are going to try and set up ,
transportation with the co-
operation of the senior
citizens and other groups.
The approximate date for
this part of the program has
been set for July 1.
Any residents with
comments, questions or
suggestions for the program
can contact the Huron
County Health Unit, 105
Shipley St. Clinton in care of
Action for Wheels.
Even though Blyth does
have a form of transportation
for its senior citizens, *it
doesn't have anything for the
disadvantaged or youth
under 16 who have no means
of getting around according
to Janice, who is the project
manager on the study..
In three of four weeks the
students will be coming back
to each individual area and
will try and set up public
information meetings in
those places to discuss
possible means of transport-
;ation.
