Holiday time is here. Families on
,vacation will be travelling with children.
Youngsters get restless on long trips. They
tire of watching the scenery go by, counting
animals or spotting cars, from another
province or country. A good suggestion to
keep them amused is to buy a few
inexpensive toys before leaving home, keep
them, out of sight until the kiddies get
bored , then give them one.
July 1st, Dominion Day, is next
Tuesday. As yet there does not appear that
there has been a celebration of any kind
planned to take place in Brussels. With all
the uproar about the problems our country is
having one would think every city, town and
namlet would be eager to mark Canada's
Day with some kind of special activity. Let
us, at least, fly our flags to show passer's by
that we are aware of what day it' is and that
We are proud to be Canadians.

Sunday was Decoration Day at Brussels
Cemetery: The day when members of the
I.O.O.F. and Rebekah. Lodge and of the
Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies
Auxiliary honoured the memory of their
deceased lodge' brothers and sisters and -
comrades. Many of those now tone from
Western Star and Morning Star Lodge gave
of their time and effort to the welfare Work of
their lodge and betterment Of their
community. Legion comrades gave, even
unto death. All served their community and
country. It is fitting that their memory
should be honoured in a combined service by
surviving' members; relatives and friends.

" Humbard, ;the well-known. TV
evangeliSt, got a scathing going-over in a
recent article. The sincerity of the message
he &litters was not questioned but the
methods used 'in getting funds and the way
the money is spent, was bitterly-. attacked.
With this I must agree. The deplorable
begging letters sent to widows, the lonely
and shut-ins; who draw comfort from his
broadcasts, are a disgrace. Recently, the
article referred to said his wife Aimee sent
leeching letters far and wide asking for
money that she could use to give her
husband a wonderful birthday gift by paying
his debts. Why should others, who so often
have so little themselves, be asked to pay his
debts? This, when it is said they live in a
veritable mansion and he has, recently
bought a condominium. Disgraceful.

With school out and vacation trips the
thing, there will be more cars than ever on
the highways. This means even more need
for attentive driving. Drive defensively. Be
alert to what is going on ahead, behind and
around you. Anticipate what could happen
and take the necessary precaution to avoid
an' accident. Have a happy holiday. Take
care net to become a highway fatality
statistic.
