elective programs ,were on,
display, and public speaking
contest winners presented
their speeches.
One fund raising ventures
was "Annie Get Your Gun".
The Home and School had.
two main purposes in
presenting this musical. One
purpose was to involve ,the
! adults of the community in
the, school and the 'second
was to raise funds to aisist
with programs' and materials
for students at Grey Central.
The Treasurer's report
included a statement for the
stage production which
netted a profit of $2,007.84.
A recommendation made
by the executive Was brought
before the Association by
president, Lillian. Hanna,
that the money from the play
be put in a special fund until
needed. • The re-
commendation was accepted.
The following names were
presented by Barb Grube on
behalf of the nominating

ceremonies and the new

sponsibility for the 1980/81
terms for the Home and
School Association.

There were 16 ladies,
present for the June meeting
of the Walton Unit on
Wednesday evening •
Mrs. Ednaillackwell open-
ed the worship service with a
poem, "This. is Gladnes!".
Mrs. Ian Wilbee was pianist.
Mrs. Hackwell chose as •the
theme . "Happy' Times"
referring to church attetld-
brings gladness, Joy in
worship and the way "of
worship.
Mrs. EmerSon Mitchell
gave as the topic the interest-
ing facts of "The Lord is my
Shepherd' 'written by a
minister from Texas.
Mrs. Alex Gultuzen
presided for the business.
Minutes were read by Mrs.
Howard Hackwell and
treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. Dorothy Sholdice.
Copper Contest leaders gave
their reports. Mrs. I. Wilbee
collected $135.00 and Mrs.
B. Coutts $109.50.
Plans were made for lunch
for promotional Sunday for
the Sunday School when 36
from the mid-western
regional centre will form the
choir on Sunday, June 22nd;
others offered to. bring lunch
for the induction of the new
minister, Rev. Swan on' July
3 and a shower on July 25
in• the church basement.
There will not be another
unit' meeting till September.
A half • hour of fellowship
was, enjoyed during lunch
served by Mrs. Emerson
1Vfitchell, Mrs. Harold Bolger
and Mrs. Allan McCall.
PERSONALS
Mr. , and Mrs. Herb
Traviss and Mr. and Mrs.
Ron Bennett. arrived home
late Wednesday night
following an .enjoyable motor
trip to Prince,Edward Island,
going by the way of ,Lake
Placid through the
states, taking in ferry trips
the way. They reported the
weather was good, some rain
at nights but not as cold as
around here. .
Four couples from this
area,, Mr.and Mrs. Dave
Watson, Mr. and Mrs.
Terrance Dundas, Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Schade and
Mr. and Mrs. George
Williamson took in the four
day trip on the Golden Age
Bus Tours. They stayed *at
the Aston • Villa Lodge on
Muskoka Lake, took in a trip
including the surrounding
area of the high falls, and a
delightful boat cruise on
Wednesday viewing • the
numerous beautiful homes
around the lakes.
Plans are being made for
the induction of the new
minister, Rev. Charles Swan
enThursilay evening July 3 at
8 p,m, at Duffs United
Church. There will be church
services through the month
of july,the minister will take
his holidays in August.

Saturday evening gnests
with Mrs. Edna Hackwell
were Mr. and Mrs. Don Gray
of Stratford. They also, called
on Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Reid
in the afternoon.
Mrs. L. Chisholm of '
Dungannon spent part of the
weekend with her mother,
Mrs. F. Payne.
Mrs, Viola Kirkby and
Paul Kirkby spent the week-
end at her cottage at Point.

New inspector
Deputy Minister of Agri-
culture and Food Ken Lantz
has announced the appoint-
ment of W.A. (Bill) Harley as
a plant inspector with the
Milk Industry Section of the
Farm Products Quality
Branch to succeed Ken
McRae who has retired. Mr.
Harley will be responsible for
the dairy plant inspection
program for the ministry in
the counties of Essex, Kent,
Elgin, Middlesex, Huron,
Perth, Oxford and Norfolk,
and will work out' of the
Woodstock office.
