Don Orth, from the staff of
Centralia. Agricultural
College spoke to the. Bel-
grave Women's Institute .at
its meeting in the W.I. Hall
on May 20.
Mr. Orth gave the mem-
bers an interesting and
thorough presentation of.the,
college courses and facilities,
and the, aims of the college
with regard to placement of
graduates. He also showed
slides of the premises,
residences and students
participating in different
courses. Mr. Orth was
introduced and thanked by
Mrs. William" Fenton,
convenor of ,the agrjculture
equipment not used by the
farmer to-day. Mrs. Fenton
read a paper prepared 4y
Mrs. Albert Coultes ou. the
motto "There is Amain,
health and power in country
life, but mOst of the
footprints, in, the sands of
time were made by work
boots." '
Ruth Higgins entertained
with a' piano solo.
The meeting was conduct-
ed by the president, Mrs.
Ross Higgins, who also gave
a report of the officers'
confe„rence which she
attended at the University of
Waterloo.
Mrs. John Anderson was
appointed acting secretary
for the meeting.
Devotions'were approved
to the Red Shield Campaign
and Tuckersmith Disabled.
Fundraising Committee.
The W.I. will cater to the
East Wawanosh Public
School Grade 8 graduation
banquet on June 2Q.
Convenors for the event will
be Mrs. Clare Van Camp,
Mrs. Ross 'Taylor and Mrs.
Ivan. Wightman.
Brandon Cemetery
Memorial Service will be
held July, 6 at 3 p.m, with the
Anglican Church in charge.
It was decided that the
branch 'review a portion of
the handbook at each meet-
ing and the convenor of the
meeting to be responsible for
this project.
