Car hits house
Two Blyth men escaped
injury when they were in-
volved in a single car acci-
dent near Brussels which
resulted in about $500 dam-
age to a house and hydro
pole on Friday, May 16.
Joe Phelan, 17, of Blyth,
driver of the , vehicle was
going around the curve on
Mill Street, west of Elizabeth
Street, when the car went
' into the south ditch, then hit
the house owned by Thomas
Strachan. Jack Holmes of
Blyth was a passenger in the
vehicle.
There was approximately
$3500 damage to the car.

In this balmy season, if the
choice was mine to make, I'd
like to be an ant. It' would be
Utopia for real; no problems
to worry about, no profound
thoughts to confuse me, no
labyrinth to boggle my
mind--everything would be
simple. ,.
The wind would allow me
to burrow a silky tunnel
through earth to my home.
And, when the sun shines as
golden as the ceilings of
dandelions, I'd crawl out to
the grass' sweetness and
earth's. warm breath to get
my food. Just as simple as
that.
But it's not my choice--Vm
here on earth under my own
golden sunlight with the

The words have an ominous
ring to them and reality of
them are an even more
ominous fact. Everyone is
aware of the negative
• psychological aftereffects
that an unwanted pregnancy
can have on a girl and her
boyfriend, yet the frequen-
cies of occurrence of teenage
pregnancies in this school
and others throughout Huron
County, continues to
increase. Most people are
aware of the sad statistics
concerning teenage
marriages, especially those
brought on by a "surprise"
pregnancy, yet marriage is
quite often the solution
chosen by the couple. People

dandelions at my feet. And,
for us, a 'simple blade of
grass does not lead our gaze
directly into eternity: we
follow the winding passages
of the tree's branches to the
sky above. And then where?
Oh, for a, simple blade of
grass!
Ah, but that sky, those
billowing clouds. Right now,
get up and look at the
heavens. Not a glance, but a
long, deep search. Nowhere
is the sky so promisingly
blue, never so clear and
playful.
Now let your eyes drop to
the treeline. Where it once
was bare and skeletial-like,
now is full of green life or
fragrant white" blossoms.
And lower yet are the
coloured splashes of,flowers

and his growth but still the
statistics on illegitimate
children remain on the
upswing.
What is the answer to this
ever-growing problem? Is it
more readily-available
information on birth control?
Stricter rules on the part of
the parents, better educated
education in the schools
concerning teenage
pregnancies? I really don't
know but I do know that an
unwanted pregancy can
adversely affect the couple
and their families for the rest
of their lives. And to a threat
such as that, a suitable
solution must be found.

marks its welcome.
But, split the luscious
clumps of grass, and observe
the ant. Their tiny black
,bodies twinkling in and out of
the plants, their paths
winding in no apparant
direction,, yet so deeply sure
of their destination. Spring
and warmth and sweet
smells of grass are always
merely a heartbeat away.
And then I know that to be an
ant, to lead a life simple and
sure is the best anyone could
choose.
