THE BRUSSELS POST MAY 28 198.0 .--- 9
Brussels Bombers are at it again
Once again it's that time of the year „
• When all the baseball players give a great
cheer
The team to watch and, lisien for
Is the Ladies Slow Pitch ball, team, here
once more
We'll re-introduce to you, our admiring
public and cheering fans.
This years starting line-up, as good as any ,
man's
Our own Mrs. Maloney is once again on the
pitcher's. mound.
Each and every batter she is scared of, but
she stands her ground
Her balls are high and straight as a die
We can only hope the umpire 'has a very
good eye. •
If it should happen that her balls should
roam
Mama. Ruth is back to pitch, leaving baby
with Dad it home.
Muzz, decided not to coach this wandering
crew -‘
So baby sitting is the, job. for him to do
Another pitcher we are holding in the bull
pen
Is our newlywed Flo, who throws a good
ball now and again
ball now and again
Our catcher is Schultz, whom every one
knows
Her mouth is in 'gear and not too many
balls past her goes
Asa stand-by we have Lefty, a bit awkward
for,sure
But fouls everybody when her glove does
the b41 lure
Mrs.' Spi* gives lip service to everyone
coming .to first
And aggrovates the opposition to a temper
fit to burst
She's new on the team but seems to, fit
right in
Especially when she helps the game for us
to win
Stretch plays second the same as last year
Not hot as stopping grounders but great at
drinking beer
Scrapper plays short, as far as short goes
We keep hoping ,each year that maybe a
few inches she grows
' Fireball Rut still holds down third
Listens, to the comments from the bench,
some the best she's ever heard
The fielders are many, quite often replaced
Holding doWn the fort, Pig Earl, Slam Barn
Pam and Lemon often displaced
B.P. Annie is still working on finding a new
style
While trying for fly balls, they all one on
top of each other pile
Since our Ladies Ball Team has no coach as
of now
Dusty, as manager, tells us why and he(
Power House Blake, has gone, off playin#
ball for a time r
But will assist Dusfylintil she gets back leer
prime
Now that has covered all ,the team for you
to meet
to meet
Come and watch the action so we don't get
beat
The first game of the year was rt 'wonder to
behold • <
Listen and I'll tell you and the game for you
unfold
The first game of the season, as everyone
Will' know
Is really something rare to see, for each
puts on a show
Our game was played in Rostock, just this
past Thursday mite
The first ball that was pitched across gave
everyone a fright
It went so high into the air, and landed with
a plop
Our batter, Schultz, took a great swing and
every breath was stop
"Strike One!" the umpire shouted as it
landed on the plate
For how could it fail to do so when the sizes
of it is great
Strike two went by the same as it did before
She hit it then, a small pop fly, before it
went one more
Her speed's, not great, it didn't help to
.,shout
For as the ball went past to first, she was
then called out.
One down and Stretch was up, "enougt-of.
that she said!"
She hit the ball for a home run and into
home was led
When our first half of the inning was all
done
Fireball and Mrs. Pig did also round the
bases run
The game. went on and our girls struggled
on to mix
The score after seven innings was tied six
to six
Two more innings and two home runs
slammed in
Helped the Brussels Bombers the game to
win
The next game is in Brussels on
Wednesday nite
Come and see us play, for it is quite a sight
Stiff and sore from playing the game before
Fun and excitement we guarantee by the
score.
