James Roy, founding
artistic director of the:Blyth
Festival was recently
appointed artistic 'director of
the Belfry Theatre in Victoria
B.C.
The theatre is a winter
operation, which to date has
produced few Canadian
works.. Mr. Roy, who was
committed to introducing.
new Canadian plays during
his years with the Blyth
Festival, plans to present a
balanced season at.the Belfry
Theatre with both inter-
national and Canadian
works.
The artistic director will be
starting with the Belfry,
Theatre in August.
, Mr. Roy's wife, (Anne
writing under her maiden
name Anne Chislett, is also
pursuing ,a new career. Her
play, The Tomorrow Box,,
was awarded an honourable
mention in Theatre Ontario!s
