It wasn't exactly a bicycle but Sherry Hastings and Mary Lowe found that this go-cart affair provided an enjoyable way of getting around Brussels on a sunny day. (Photo by Langlois) Enjoy trip to Niagara area Sixteen Belgrave reSidents along with others from Blyth, Auburn and Clinton enjoyed a trip to Niagara and Vine- land on the Golden Age Travel Coach last Tuesday, May 6. Mrs. Margaret Burk- flirt acted as hostess and guide and Doug was driver. At Cherry Lane Farms Vineland •the group was treated to coffee and dough- nuts and then taken on a tour of the fruit orchards to see' the trees in blossom. While in Niagara the - group saw a wonderful display of flowers in-a large greenhouse and also viewed the Falls. At St. Catharines they saw a film on producing Georgian Wine. While at Welland a large steamer the "Murray Bay", passed under the lift bridge which spans the Welland Canal. After a dinner in Sunhine Restaurant, Hamilton, the group resumed their home- ward journey and• all reported a very pleasant day. Mr. and Mrs. James Keller and lamily of R.R.1, New Hamburg, Mark Taylor of St. Thomas, Miss Trudy Taylor of Kitchener, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Armstrong, Mr. and. Mrs. Jack Taylor were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor and family following the baptismal service of Heather Lynne infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Keller in Knox United Church, Sunday Morning. Miss Deanne Pare and Mr. Brian Spivey of Windsor called on his aunt Miss IVIargaret Curtis,a resident of the Brookhaven Nursing Home Wingham, who was visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse on_Sunday. Rev. John G. Roberts pre. sided over the introductions. Edward Daer introduced the guest speakers, ' Barry and Brian Edgar of Petrolialwho spoke on their hockey careers and tournament playing in Paris, - with Russia, Czechoslovakia and West Germany. They also showed slides of their trips and displayed some of their souvenirs. Glenn Coultes thanked them and presented them with gifts. Clark Johnston entertain- ed . the group with several song selections. Robbie Nicholson presented a gift to coach Ron Cook on behalf of the Midget team. Brad Grover, Scott Stevenson and- Brad Shobbrook presented gifts to coaches Blake Evans, Neil Vincent and John Dobell on behalf of the Bantam team. Brian Wightman, Randy Nixon and Doug Wood pre- sented gifts to Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Haines for the Pee Wee players. Terry Daer and Jim English presented gifts to coaches paul McKee and Bob Taylor for the Squirt team. Jason Coultes and Jeff Tolton presented gifts to. Glenn Coultes and Lloyd Michie for the Tyke team. Paul McKee thanked all the mothers. who helped to serve and •all the hockey mothers for catering to the banquet. Thanks was, given to the referees and all the parents ' who helped out over 'The year, There . will be a hockey school again , this fall in Blyth. The evening ended with a dance with music by Stevens of Brussels. There were lots of spot dances and tired wee feet. WMS MEETS The W.M.S. held their meeting at the Copeland Lodge in Wingham May 5. Mrs. George Fear presided and opened with a poem on "Thoughtfulness." A sing song was enjoyed with Rev. Kenneth Innes ac- companying on the guitar. Scripture was read by Mrs. Ivy Cloakey. Mrs. Jack McBurney led in prayer. Mrs. Joe Dunbar read a meditation on "Thoughtful- ness". Mrs. Garner Nichol- son read two poems. Secretary's report was given by Mrs. McBurney. Two poems were read 'by Mrs. Victor Youngblut. Mrs. Fear thanked all who had helped, and thanked Mrs. Lottie Scott for the invitation. Rev. Innes closed with prayer and lunch was enjoyed by everyone. BAPTISM Avery large congregation witnessed the sacrament of baptism celebrated, in Knox United Church, Belgrave, on Sunday morning. Rev. John G. Roberts condOted the service. Miss Sheila Anderson, Pianist and Mrs.. George Procter, organist, presided for the prelude and service. The scripture reading re- lerred to the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. The order of baptism 'as presented in the Service Book was used to receive Kendra Jennifer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim •D. Leish- man; Wayne Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas. Fenton and Heather Lynne ' daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Keller into the church. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. • Clarence Hanna were entertained by their families at a. smorgas- bord • dinner at Vendome Hotel, • TeesWater on Mother's, Day, Sunday after- noon;this being the ocassion of • their 45th.. wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Leitch, Julie and Jeffery Of London, Mr: and Mrs.. George Johnston, Tara and Erin of Ilderton and Mrs. Laura Johnston were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby on Sunday.
