You're in•love. and you've.
promised to. many him. You're
.feeling as sentimental as old
lace and in a,bit of a tizzy won-
dering what to do first, You
want your wedding to be a beau-
tiful start to yotir life together,
"Every wedding is unique.
because of the bride and groom.
involved,".. says Barbara-
Doebele. of. Hallmark Cards, a
leading manufacturer of Keep-
sake wedding albums..
The 'key is organization, she
says. A beautiful, formal wed-
ding involves plenty of behind
the-scenes planning, She
recommends a headstart of six
months to a year.
"Once the date is set, the
bride usually sits down with her
parents to discuss the size, style,
and budget allocated, taking
their personal wishes into con-
sideration."
"Wedding expenses, are tradi-
tionally divided between fami-
lies of the bride and groom, but
Color refers to, the crystal
clear purity that is most coveted
for engagement diamonds.
Clarity involves the fact that
diamonds form naturally with
"inclusions"—carbon spots,
bubbles and small internal
cracks. Such inclusions do not
mar the stone's visible beauty if i
they cannot be seen by the naked
eye.
•
Ask your jeweler
Your jeweler will be glad to
show you any such inclusions
under magnification, and deter-
mine if they affect the
diamond's price.
A carat is the standard mea-
sure of diamond weight, and
each carat is equal to 100 points.
For example, a half carat dia-
mond is 50 points.
Often, a bride-to-be will
choose an engagement ring that
has the center stone flanked with
smaller diamonds,
Style can be a deciding factor
in choosing a ring, based upon;
the bride-to-be's hand shape .
the bride's family is entirely re- ;
sponsible for the ceremony and
reception expenses,'
Six months, before the wed-
ding is not too early for the
groom to choose his ushers and
finalize honeymoon plans. The
bride will be. busy making the
appropriate reservations and
shopping for wedding attire for
herself and her attendants,
Three Months before, the:
bride and groom should have
completed their guest list ; tak- I
Square hands look best with
slim, tapering designs such as
the marquise.
Small hands are comple-
mented by delicate styles, and
lean hands can take a large,
more elaborate ring.
Whatever her preference
In addition to choosing a spe-
,cific cut, the bride-to-be has her
choice of contemporary, mod
em or antique stylings.
Often, couples have the en-
gagement ring engraved. When
the engagement ring is chosen, •
the wedding band is often se-
lected at the same time so that
the two designs complement
each other. •
ing 'Care to incliide important
members_of both families.
This detailed record will be
useful later for writing thank-
you notes and inviting friends to
visit them in their first home.
At this point, the bride should
register with the local stores
and select her china, silver and
crystal. -
This is also the time to order
the wedding cake if it's not in-
cluded in the caterer's package.
(You can determine if it's more
economical to• take the cake of-
fered in the , caterer's reception
package rather than purchasing,
it elsevvhere.)
Next, the unlikely chore of
choosing the bridal bouquet and
going'-away corsage belongs to
the, groom. Two months before
the wedding, he should visit the
florist and arrange for corsages
for the mothers and grand-
mothers, and boutonniers for
the attendants', as well:
"There are so many things to
remember in planning a 'perfect
wedding," saysIDoebele,
"many -couples find it useful to
buy a wedding memory album.
"It not only serves -to record
the actual day, but the myriad
details leading up to it. Memo-
rabilia such as snapshots, news-
paper clippings, even a
matchbook from the restaurant
they visited, will revive all the
joys leading up to the wed-
ding." The "Keepsake" albums
are available in stores that carry
Hallmark products.
The last few weeks should be
a time when the bride and groom
can, enjoy the, festivities being
planned for them,and the excite-
ment of the wedding to come.
Two weeks before the cere-
mony, the groom makes a date
with his fiancee to get the mar-
riage license. Both bride and
groom keep a daily record cif the
arriving gifts and arrange for
transportation for their atten,
dants to the church.
The final week is a time of re-
hearsal and attendants' parties.
The bride gives, the caterer a
final guest count. And, both she'
and the groom arrange, to move
their belonging& to their new
home.

With a young couple, when it
comes to love, it usually comes
to rings—that all-important en-
gagement ring—and, more and
more, young-marrieds are re-
04 questing. double-ring ceremo-
nies, the Jewelry Industry
Council reports.
Choosing the rings is tradi-
tionally a shared experience,
with the bride-to-be and her in-
tended visiting their favorite
jeweler for the selection.
Evaluating a diamond puts
many a young couple in a quan-
dary, particularly when it comes
to what is known in the trade as
the diamond's four "C"s—Cut,
Color, Clarity and Carat
weight.
The value of the stone
These four elements deter-
mine the diamond's worth, and
it is quite possible for a smaller'
diamond to be worth more than
one that is larger.
Cut is the way a diamond is
shaped, with traditional styles
being the brilliant or round, the
emerald, the pear, the oval and
the boat-shaped marquise cut,

MAKING MEMORIES is what a wedding is' all about, And pre-
serving those through the years is what a Hallmark Keepsake
wedding album is all about. The wedding Keepsake features
sections for recording the events of the day, as well as the events
leading up to the happy occasion. There's room for snapshots,
newspaper clippings and even a matchbook from a favorite res-
taurant. The Keepsake album is available at stores that carry
Hallmark products.
