Short eymoons are
It seems local honey-
mooners aren't taking those
long romantic vacations that
young girls dream of.
According to Harold Bauer
of Banes. Travel in Seaforth,
many of the locals„ go to
Montreal, New 'York, up
north and even Niagara
Falls.'
Mr. Bauer said that a lot of
newlyweds use their cars,
but the odd couple does fly to
distant areas. He said that it
quite often depends on their
budget. ,
"Most of them seem to
have to get back to their
jobs." said Mr. Bauer. Their
honeymoons usually last
about one week, he said.
Many specials are offered to
young, travellers to Florida or
Hawaii but not many from
this area go that far.
Mr. Bauer felt that the
drop in the Canadian dollar
has not affected most honey-
mooner's decision whether to
stay in Canada or not.
Jane Habkirk of Good
Times Travel in. Seaforth said
that the west is a favourite
with honeymooners. Quite a
few go to Florida. She also
noticed that honeymoons last
only one week in a lot of
cases.,
"'A lot of newlOy.weds '.Can't •
afford that much," said MrS,
Hahkirk. "I imagine some of
them still go to Niagara
Falls."
To save costs Mr. Bauer
said, many honeymooners
don't hook with travel
agencies but just, hop in their
cars and, head north .or west.
He said that bus tours are
Available to young couples to
the States but most of them
drive, themselves.
