Shedding light on your
While some plants die be-
cause they are not given enough
light when they are indoors,
other plants are sometimes
given too much.light.
This is particularly true with
plants from tropical rain forests.
Many of these can't even
tolerate filtered sunlight. They
will grow much better in a
northern window than in a
semi-shaded eastern one.
If you were to place them in
the sun, their leaves would
probably wilt during the hottest
part of the day.
This happens with
scheffleras,Th philodenrons, ferns
and peperomias. In addition to
color change, these plants may
• develop leaf burn from too
much direct sun.

hibit plants from blooming. A
plant surviving at the minimum
illumination level , only main-
tains itself. If it receives more
light, it grows. Below the
minimum illumination, it
weakens_ A plant that has
been growing in the shack can
suffer fatal burning if brought
directly into a sunny situation.
