(Continued from Page 1)
Council decided not to accept a motion of
the City of North York that Premier,' Davis
live up to his election promise to eliminate
property tax for senior citizens.
First, second- and'third reading was given
to the sewer use by-law to control industrial
waste discharge to sewers.
Council heard that the tax arrears for 1979,
were $9,381,17 and that Brussels• county
apportionment for 1980 was $30,880, down
roughly $6000 from last year.
A budget meeting is to be held on April 25
at 8:30 and included in that .discussion will
be possible repairs for the library and the ,
purchase of steel pipe for the ditch on Elm
Street.
$1,000 to the arena this year-and whenever
the payment of fire insurance for the arena
came up, Brussels had always helped out.
PROPERTY CLEANUP
Council also had a request from a citizen
asking if they could do something about
getting the former Ball Auctions property
cleaned up: Council decided to write a letter
to the owners of the property asking that it
be completely cleaned up to a respectable
conditon.
The senior citizens group is putting toilets
in the library and it is going to cost more
than the $1,200 that they had from a new
Horizons grant!" council decided, to meet
their request for $200.
