As, a successful project in
Huron, County during the
summer of 1979, the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and
• Food is again offering the
"Agricrew Project" to farm-
ers during the summer of
1980- This:-programme has
been designed to provide a
practical wolf* experience.for
young people.
As part of an "Agricrew",
team members will be placed
on farms and asked to do jobs
that: may not have been done
because of the• volume of
regular faint work. In add-
' ition, crew members could be
hired to assist with harvest
during seasonal periods'. An
Agricrew could also be hired
to help Agricultural Societies
prepare- their grounds for
rural community fairs.,
Each ,Agricrew will work as •
a team ,(3 crew members and
/ a foreman) and' will, not be
"subdivided. Agricrew mein- -
hers must be over 15 years 'of j.
age as of May 1st, 1980 and
will be selected on their
willingness to perform agri-
cultural manual labour. 4.
Employers:are to be engaged
in farming full time and will •
be 'required to sign a work
agreOment indicating work to
be done, litethOtl of Foment
and alternate work plati for
inclement weather. Each
farm employer will pay
$90.00 , per day for the
services Of the' .Agricrew,
the conclusion of the work

All Agricrew members will

ANOTHER JUNIOR
AGRICULTURAL IST
PROGRAMME
This year, the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture &
Food , will once again be
sponsoring the Junior Agri-
culturalist Programme dur-
ing the summer of. 1980. The
programme is designed' to
provide a practical learning
experience for young people
from non-farm homes who
have a serious interest in
agriculture, and who have
had no experience working
on a farm. ,
As a Junior Agriculturalist
a person will be placed on a
selected, commercial .arm,
where he/she will perform
regular activities relative'to
that farm operation. In
addition, an appreciation of
rural life through living with
a farm family, and through
participating in the local 4-II
and Junior Farmer pro-
grammes and in other rural
activities will be developed.
The prospective Junior
Agriculturalists will be either
boys or girls 16 and 17 years
of age and must be in good
physical and mental con-
dition in order to withstand
the vigorous physical effort.
Selection will be based in
part on their reasons for;
being interested in agricuP
tore, and their plans for
further education and a
career.
MI Junior Agriculturalists
will be required to Partici-
pate in an orientation :pro-
gramme to help prepare
them for their farm stay. This
programme will be held
abodt mid June and on-farm
assignment will be 'a nine-
week period, commencing on.
June 16th and terminating on'
August 16th, 1980.
A Junior Agriculturalist
will be assigned, 'wherever,
Possible, to a farm with the
type of enterprise in which
he/she is . most interested.
The duties involved will vary
considerably depending on
the individual farm operation
the demonstrated ability of
the Junior Agriculturalist
and the kind of enterprise
found on the farm.
The interested host farm-
ers are to own `commercial
farins, with the operator
engaged in farming full time.
They must be interested, in
helping inexperienced young.
people develop, • the skills
required on a farm and are
expected, to have the ability
to work well with and
supervise young people.
Host farmers must also
provide suitable accommo- .
dationlor the Junior Agricul-
turalist during his/her stay
on the farm.
Eadh Junioi Agricul-
turalist will receive a training
allowance of $12 per day on a
six day week. $6 of this will
be provided by the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture &
Food; the host farm will
provide $6 per day:in cash, as
well as supplying room and,
&board worth $6 per day,
