APRIL' 2, 19.14.--!-,- 7' roject Mone For the past 5 years the grade eight classes have been participating in outdoor education activities at Camp Meneserries, near Goderich. The programs are.planned by the teachers at Brussels School. To cover ,the expenses of the camp the grade 8 class particiPates in various fund raising projects such , as: school dances, selling candy bars, and rummage sales. Mrs. Raymond organizes the grade eight classes in their fund raisirig projects. . Often more money is raised than is required so these funds are donated by the grade eight class to the school to purchase ,equip- ment to be used by the students. • This year the extra money Murray K. Thornton, 19, of R.R.1, Gorrie is in stable condition in University Hospital inlondon following an early morning accident on Saturday, when the truck he was driving went out, of control and rolled over pinning' the driver under- neath the right front wheel. The accident occurred on Highway 87, .4 kilometres east of the Maitland River. The driver was coming down the highway and started to pass a line of cars on the hill in the face of oncoming traffic. When he tried to pull back the vehicle went out of control and rolled over. A passenger in the vehicle, Paul G.. Somers, 17 of Fordwich received minor injuries. There was $3.500 damage to the 1976 pick-up truck. During the week March 24-30, Wingham Ontario Police officers conducted 25 investigations. Nine charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act and fourteen warnings were issued, Six 'charges were laid under the Liquor Licence Act. During the week, there were four motor vehicle collisions which caused an estimated $7420.00 in prop- erty damage and injuries to four persons. Also on Saturday, March 20, Gary B. Heyden received minimal injuries as a result of a'single car accident on the Howick-Minto town line road, north of Highway 87, has been used to purchase snow shoes, a ping pong table, and a carpet for the grade one, students to, be used for their reading clas- ses, The grade eight students who, attended the school in' the past are to be commend- ed for donating their funds to purchase the equipment. People in the,community also support fund raising pro- jects. GRADE SIX As an extra spelling activity the pupils of Grade 6 ,are taking a "JeurnCY Through Space." Every week they study facts about a different planet which takes the form of a spelling list. On Fridays they write the words from dictation on planet- shaped coloured paper which Mr. Thornton has been charged with careless driving. 4i'a separate accident, also investigated by the Wingham 0.P. P. which happened in the same place at the same time on Saturday, Zolton Pasztor, 20, of R.R.1, Wroxeter, driver of a 1976 ontiac also attempted to pass a line, of cars on a hill. When he tried to pull back in, his vehicle went out of control and landed in the ditch. Pasztor suffered no injuries but a pasengcr in the vehicle Richard G.-Shaw 19 of R.R.1, Wroxeter ,,uffered minor injuries. There was $800 damage to the vehicle and Mr. Pasztor has been charged with care- less driving and a liquor offence.
