South East Asian refugees
La Leche League of
Belgrave met at the home of
Mrs. Joyce Casemore,
Belgrave to discuss the "Art
of Breastfeeding and Over-
coming Difficulties"mon Feb.
19th Mrs. Casemore
welcomed the mothers and
explained how the lending
library works.
She was happy
with the growth of the library
since LLL Belgrave now has
17 books, thanks to mothers
taking out memberships,
buying League books and
products, and donating
books.
Mrs. Barbara Kerr opened
the discussion with a round
of introductions. The
mothers shared experiences
of breastfeeding, relating
how they had solved pro-
blems they had encountered
in the early days of nursing,
such as engorgement, and
building up a milk supply. It
was noted that with ex-
perience and knowledge,
difficulties were either
minimized or non-existent.
The mothers gave hints on
how to dress fashionably and
nurse discreetly while going
out with a nursing baby.
The February meeting or
the Melville Women's Guild
met in the church parlour on
Tuesday, February 19, with
Leona Armstrong opening
with a short reading,
followed by a short poem
entitled, "What is Love," by
Mary Douma.

Mrs. Kerr closed the
meeting with a quotation by
Dr. Grantly Dick-Read -
"The newborn baby has only

knowledge of her presence.
Breastfeeding satisfies all
three."

Laos & Cambodia and re-
lating to the refugees leaving
South Ea'st Asia. The Church
has applied for a refugee
family to arrive in this area,
she familiarized the Guild
with the customs of Indo'
China, dwelling briefly on
name, education, birth,
marriages, funerals, food &
religion. It is honed that the
family will be assisted and
accepted when they arrive.
Jeanne Ireland, vice-
president was in charge of
the business portion of the
meeting. The Guild has been
asked to cater to the Institute
dinner on VVednesda y, April
9.

programs
The Brussels Friendship
Club met on Wednesday
afternoon February 20 with a
good attendance. President
Fred Thuell was in, the chair.
Verna' Thomas played the
piano as the regular pianists
were absent. Minutes of the
prevous meeting were read
by Gertie Bolger, moved by
Frank Hooper, seconded by.
Hazel Matheson. The
treasurer's report was given
by Laura Lucas.
Members would like to
have more of a program at
meeting and anyone wishing
to help out in this respect
would be very much
appreciated.
It was also suggested that
each member bring a guest to
a meeting in the future. The
club would like to see more
seniors become members
and share- in an afternoon of
fellowship.
Cards were signed to be
sent to four m embers in
hospital.. It will be arranged
for a speaker to come to one
of the the club's meetings.

will be in charge of the lunch
served after morning service
on Sunday February 24 and
group 3 is to eater to the
Lion's supper on Monday;
February 25 at the
Community Centre. The
Guild will entertain the choir
and a committee was
appointed to select a suitable
date and arrange a pro-
gramme.
