George Procter, a representative on,
the. Belgrave Community Centre Board
appeared at Morris council to show a
proposed budget for the coming year.
Mr. Procter said they had decided to
increase the hockey and skating rates
which were previously 25 cents to 50
cents for a child, $1.00 for an adult and
$3.00- per family and are now charging
on Sundays, 'whereas it had been free
skating, •
He also thought they could have a
deficit for the year of about $2,700 and
that they would likely need an extra
$1,000 from each township besides other
grant money, that Eash Wawanosh and.
Morris Townships had already agreed to
give.
Councillor Ross Procter wondered if
the Belgrave arena would become self-
PM quizzed

would be down to 10 or 11 per cent by'
July. He also . said that one of the
proposals in his budget was to have
small business development bonds,
allowing small businesses to borrow
$500,000 at interest, rates roughly half of
the regular rates.
A student caller asked Clark about his
fiscal policy, for the future and the
prime minister said one of the things
he thinks :the government has to do is
restore confidence in the economy by
showing that the government of Canada
is prepared to put its own spending
under control.. He was also asked about
°on-the-job training for young people and
said that the government will subsidize
part of the costs fora business on the
understanding that . it will provide on-
the-job training.

activities of all the party leaders. How
anyone could escape them is a mystery.

Canada's Olympic Hockey Team
accomplished something many never ex-
pected them to do. They defeated the
strong Czechoslovakian Olympic team,
rated one of the best amateur teams
in the world, by a score of 6-3 in
Calgary. Our young Canadians skated
with them and matched their passing
ability. It was a crucial test and they
came through on top. They must repeat
that victory, defeating the Czechs at the
Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, to win
a medal. They have the courage and
skill to do it. We wish them success.
sufficient the way it once was or if there
would be a deficit every year as, he.
wanted to be fair to all the arenas
around.
George Pocter wanted to know wh•at
backing the Belgrave arena has from
council. Ross Procter said he'd 'support
their budget but to be fair to the other
two boards, he would like to see them
go for a self-sustaining operation.
It was finally suggested that
George Procter come back to a council
meeting in May when the community
Centre Board would know how much •
money it needed and council decided to
-give the- $250 grant money ' that had
been previously agreed upon.
Dogs on the loose was also a' concern
at council on Monday. There had been
complaints of dogs running loose around
so council. decided to . investigate the
hiring of, a ..dog catcher. Council also
decided to hire Ann Nesbitt to count
dogs at $1,00 a dog.
In other business, council agreed to
recommend to the Turnberry Township
Council that • Ross Turvey, Helen
McFarlane . andEtoile Johnston be
appointed to the. Bluevale Hall Boardl,
and made an addition to By-Law #1
increasing labor wages to $4.75 up from
$4.30.
Council, heard that the township's
subsidy allocation from the Ministry of
Transporation and. Communications for
1980 was $64,000 for construction and
$100,000 for maintenance and decided to
apply for an interim subsidy of $340,000'
for the Martin's iiiidge which will be
subsidiZed 80 per cent: by the province.
