IT'S THE STONE THAT'S SUPPOSED TO
SLIDE!—It looks like one young curler at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey Community. Centre
on Monday had a new idea on how the curling
game shoUld be'played when they slid down,the
ice instead of sending the curling stone down.
There are 37 young people that play curling on

Midgets consolation champs
The local Midget team
participated in the Lion's
tournament in Ripley on
Saturday. Their first game of
the series had to be the most
exciting of the day. They
played against Paisley and
the score was tied at the end
of regular time at 6-6. Three
players from each team wore
chosen for a shoot-out on the
goalies. The first two
shooters off each team both
scored tieing the score at 8-8.
[he third shooter for Paisley
scored while Brussels failed.
This gave Paisley the .victory
at 9-8. Paisley advanced into
the championship round and.
Brussels dropped back to
consolation. Scoring for
Brussels was Ken Cousins
with 3 goali, Brian Tenpas 3,
Keivn Deitner and Mike
Watson 1 each. Assists went
to Todd Wheeler Ken
Higgins, Paul Johnston, Ken
Cousins, Mike Watson:
The second game ,of the
touranment was against
Elma-Logan whom they
defeated 3-0. Scoring for
Brussels was Ken Higgins,
Todd Wheeler, Kevin Bishop
with an assist going to Ken
Higgins.
The championship game
for the consolation round was
against Ripley. Brussels
defeated them 7-0 to take the
consolation 'championship
trophy. Leading the attack
for Brussels was Brian
Tenpas with 4 goals, Ken
Cousins, Todd Wheeler, and
Doug McArter scored 1 each.
Assists went to Paul
Johnston, Mike. Watson, Ken
Cousins, Brian Tenpas.
Each player was awarded a
small trophy and a crest for
their victory. Tho4e players
