meeting of Knox
Presbyterian Church will be
held on January 30
beginning with a pot-luck
dinner at 12:30.
The shirt course on
"Indoor Gardening and
Macrame" is being
sponsored by the W.I. and
begins on Monday, January
21 at the home of Mrs.
Harvey Smith.
Miss Sandra. Cameron,
Barrie, spent several days at
her home recently.
Mr. Wes McEachern and
son Winston (Galt)
Cambridge were here on the
weekend.
The Canadian Order of
Foresters are holding their
second euchre in the
Community Centre on Friday
evening, January 25 at 8:30.
The proceeds are for the
Cancer Fund. Come and
support a worthy cause.
Melville Guild
looks for fund
raising suggestions
Melville Guild was
grateful to Marguerite
Krauter for holding the New
Year's meeting in her home
on Tuesday, January 15th.
As has been customary in the
past, the first meeting of the
year began with .a pot luck
dinner.
Rose Marie Bishop opened
the Devotional portion with a
New Year's poem, followed
by an article entitled,
"Curtain Going Up, re-
vealing . a new ,,1980",
composed by D. Glenn.
Campbell, finishing with
prayer,'
Wilma Hemingway
presented topic based on
Psalm 23 - The Lord is My
Shepherd. This was written
by Philip Keller who himself
was a sheep owner, and a
sheep raiser, and he
compared the similarity
between sheep and the
human race. Donna Knight
presided for the business.
The Guild will be responsible
for the January birthday
party 'at the Callander
nursing home. A committee
was appointed to provide a
short programme and lunch.
Group I will provide lunch
after morning service on
Sunday, January 27th.
Guild members were
requested to bring any
suggestions to raise money
during the winter months, to
the next meeting.
Damage $8,350
in five car
accidents
During the week. January
14 - 20 Officers at . Wingham
detachment investigated 26
occurrences.
Twenty-two charges were
laid under the highway
traffic act and 17 warnings
were issued.
Four charges were laid
under the Liquor Licence
Act.
Two charges were laid
under the criminal code.
During the week there
were five motor vehicle
collisions which caused an
estimated $8,350.00 in
property damage and
injuries to one person.
On Saturday, January 19,
Daniel. Stacey of R.R.#2,
Wingham received minor
injuries when he was
involved in a single car
'accident on concession road
