ALLAN McCALL 887-6677 There were 8 tables of euchre in play on Tuesday evening at the Walton Com- munity Hall. Prize winners were high lady - Edna Hack- well; Second High - Elsie Shaddick; low lady - Margery Ritchie; High man - Ernie Stevens; second high - Cliff Hoegy; low man - Mel Jacklin. Birthday closest to Christmas - Sadie McDonald. Committee in charge in- cluded Mrs. Ken McDonald, Mrs. Frank Kirkby; Mrs. William Humphries and Mrs. Graeme Craig. The euchres will resume in the New Year on January 8 with committee in charge, Mrs. Lavern Godkin; Mrs. Alvin McDonald; Mrs. Her- man Plaas and Mrs. Jim Axtmann. Everyone is wel- come. Mrs. Maud Leeming of Huronview and Ann Clark were supper guests on Sun- day with Mr, and Mrs. Bruce Clark and family, At a recent meeting of the Walton A: ea sports club, in the recreation treasure re- port given by Karne Hoegy a donation of $700. was re- ceived from the coach, Carol Collins of the ladies slow pitch ball team. BOUNDARY & 17TH UNIT MEETS Mrs. Harvey Craig opened the Christmas meeting with prayer on Thursday evening, December 13 at the home of Mrs. Harold McCallum with 12 members and one visitor present,Mrs. Craig read the "Story on Advent", giving the preparation for Christmas. A reading, "The real Christmas Story" was given by Mrs. Paul McCallum, Mrs. Craig read a poem, "What is Christmas".,Hymn, "Joy to the World" was sung followed by the reading of the Christmas scripture from Luke 2: 7-20. The first verse of some of the Christmas Carols were sung with, Mrs. H. Craig telling the story of each carol, then "0, Come let us adore him" was sung following each description and carol. Mrs. Paul McCallum gave a reading, "The heart goes home for Christmas," It dis- played the most important facts at Christmas time, "Think, Thank and Love".. The Lord's Prayer repeated in unison closed the devotional. Mrs. Graeme Craig opened the business with a poem, "The First Christmas tree" Mrs. Helen Willaim- sons read the minutes, followed by the treasurer's rep9rt by Mrs. Barry Hoegy and the miscellaneous fund by Mrs. Hugh Johnston. Officers will remain the same for another year. Mrs. Martin Baan offered to make out the programs for the unit for the coming year. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Paul McCallum. The unit is in charge of devotions at the January general meeting at the church. A donation was made to the Callendar Nursing Home in. Brussels. On January 6 the U.C.W. will be installed during the mornig church service. There was a discus- sion on quilts. The meeting was closed with "Silent Night" followed by a Christmas lunch served by Mrs, Ii. Craig, Mrs. P. McCallum and the hostess during a social half hour. WI family night The Branch Directors arranged the family night instead of the regular In- stitute meeting on Wednesday evening, December 12. The community hall was decorated for the Christmas season. Mrs. Neil McGavin led in a sing-song of Christ- mas carols accompanied by Mrs. Lavern Godkin as pianist. Several games of Bingo were played, and several prizes given out followed by a tasty lunch served by Mrs. Nelson Marks, Mrs. Graeme Craig, Mrs. Herb Traviss and Mrs. Neil McGavin. Prizes were given for Merry Christmas serviette to Mrs. Harold Bolger: marked cup to Mrs. Harold Hudie and Gary Godkin. Birthdays closest to Christmas — Mrs. Bill Humphries and Mrs. Allan McCall, On Sunday morning at Duff's Church many parents and friends of children of Walton Public School were present when Grade 1, 2 & 3 filled the choir loft; they sang, "Come to Bethlehem," The Shepherds came to Bethlehem" and "Mary's Lullaby". under the direction of their music teacher, Mary Ellen Walsh accompanied by Mar Walsh at the piano.
