Wednesday, December 5, 32
sat down to tables decorated
for Christmas with the spirit
of Christmas throughout the
room.
Mrs. Murray Dennis
opened the devotions for the
McKillop Unit. It was a most
inspiring Candle Light
Service with Mrs. Neil
McGavin reading on outline
on 'witness; Mrs. Norman
Schade reading on study;
Mrs. Glen McNichol reading
on fellowship;
Mrs. Don
Dennis reading on service,
these four represent the
U.C.W. Purpose, which was
repeated in unison. The
purpose of the United
Church Women. To Unite
all women of the
congregation for the total
mission of the church and to
provide a medium through
which they may express their

The Sunday School
Christmas concert N. as held
in the Sunday School room o
of the Presbyterian Church
with Bernard Thomas,
chairman. A fine program of
recitations, skits, piano
solos, clarinet, manolin
selections, step-dancing and
Christmas carols was
enjoyed by everyone.
Certificates and pins were
presented to the Sunday
School pupils for perfect
attendance by John McInnes
and Mrs. Jim Thompson.

Christmas scriptures be-
tween each reading, closing
this part with prayer.
Hymns sang during the
devotions were "Angels,
from the realms of glory"
and "Joy to the World! the
Lord is come"., assisted by
Mrs. Lavern Godkin at the
piano.
Mrs. Neil McGavin
conducted a sing-song of
many favourite Christmas
songs.
Business was in charge of
Mrs. Don McDonald,
opening Avith a poem, "A
Child is Born" followed by
prayer. Minutes were
approved as read by Mrs.
Herb Traviss. The Observer
is being ordered tor the every
family plan. A number of
donations were voted to
different societies.
The Spring Thankoffering
is set for April 13.
Treasurer's report was given
Richardson, Scott Beer,
Dana Beer. Santa Claus
arrived to present gifts to the
ch ldren.
A Christmas Carol service
will be presented in the
Bluevale Presbyterian
Church, Sunday, Dec. 16 at 8
p.m Everyone is welcome.
Mrs. Burns Moffatt
welcomed 15 members to her
home for the Christmas
'meeting of the Bluevale
Presbyterian Women's
Missionary on Dec. 5.
"While Shepherd's
Watched," was sung to open
the meeting.
Scripture and comments
were given by Mrs. Jack
Jenkins with "Gifts" being
the theme. God's gift to us
was Jesus, The light of the
world. She chose John,
Chapter 1, verses 1-19, with
readings by Norma Golley,
Edna MacTavish, Eileen
Walker and Belle Grant.
Payer followed by Mrs.
Jenkins. Thirty visits tothe
sick were recorded.
A discussion on a study
book for next year resulted in
a decision to use "Human
Rights".
Collection was taken by
Susan Elston with prayer by
Mrs. Golley.
Mrs. Gordon Mundell was
in charge of the topic and
presented Chinese
Christmas customs. Some
by Mrs. Ken McDonald, and
Mrs. H. Craig reported for
the general fund.

were like our own, a tree,
which they refer to as their
tree of lite, lanterns and fire
works. They prepare special
foods, some similiar to ours,
others that we didn't think
would appeal to us. They
have good manners, but like
the food, not all like ours.
They are happy people but
only 1 percent are Christians.
Sometimes they have three
generations living together
in one house. They have a
special discipline hard to find
in other countries.
A Christmas game was
enjoyed by all and won by
Shirley Snell and Eleanor
McMurray, Margaret
Mundell suggested members
make use of the library more
often to help with topics.
