CWL plans Christmas party
BERT HEMINGWAY
A highly respected re-
sident of Grey Township sud-
denly after a brief illness in
Wingham Hospital in his
76th year. He was a son of
the late Isobella Watson and
William Hemingway.
He attended Brussels Con-
tinuation School and later
joined the staff of the Bank of
Nova Scotia. However he
chose farming as his career
which he enjoyed until his
death.
He took part successfully
in many, Ploughing Matches
in North Huron and up until
his death was a director of
the County Association. He
served on the committee for
the International Ploughing
Match at Port Albert in 1946.
He was a faithful attendant
of the Brussels United
Church where he was a
member of the Session for 28
years and clerk of the session
for seven years.
In 1935 he married the
former Viola Morrison who
survives along with one son
Morris at home. He is also
survived by one sister, Mrs.
Elva Turvey of Burlington
and one brother Carl of Grey
Township. He .was pre-
deceased by a brother
Oswald of Texas.
The funeral was held from
the M.L. Watts Funeral
Home in Brussels on
Thursday, November 15th
with the Rev, Eric Le Drew
officiating. Internment was
in Brussels Cemetery.
The Pallbearers were John
Perrie its., Donald Perrie,
Kenneth Tyerman,
Emmerson Mitchell, Gerald
Miller and Douglas Heming-
way.
The flowerbearers were
Lavern Godkin, David and
Ross Hemingway,
MRS. JOHN BRUCE
The death occurred in
Seaforth Community
Hospital on Tuesday of Mrs.
John Bruce of 105-50 Market
St., Seaforth. She was 80.
The former Annie
Elizabeth McLaughlin she
was a daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Alexander
McLaughlin of Brussels
where she attended school.
Following her marriage on
June 25, 1930 to John Bruce
the couple farmed in Grey
Township until retiring to
Seaforth in 1959.
Her husband died in 1971
but Mrs. Bruce is survived
by nieces and nephew. Mrs.
Frank (Isobel) Burke,
Wingham!) Ross McCall,
Brussels; Stewart McCall,
McKillom and Mrs. Harold
(Aladine) Campbell, Blyth.
A member of Duff's
Church, Walton and in
recent years of Northside
United Church, Seaforth;
Mrs. Bruce was active in
church organization and was
a member of the senior
citizen's group.
Remains are at Box
F):ncral Home, Seaforth
where a service will be
conducted by the minister
Rev. T.G. Vanslyke at 2 p.m.
on Thursday. Interment will
follow in Brussels Cemetery.

DORA FISCHER
Mrs. Dora Fischer, 79, of
Brussels died Saturday,
November 10 at Victoria
Hospital in London.
She was born in England,
the former Dora Oliver and
came to this country as a
First World War bride. She
was a member of St. John's
Anglican Church.
She was pre-deceased by
her husband Christian
Fischer. Surviving are sev-

Church" while lunch was
