by someone but not necessarily a parent,
perhaps an aunt. Mr. Keillor said therefore
if love is involved, control should come easy.
This Huron consultation centre has been
in operation in Clinton since January, 1977
and has a staff of five or six, During the last
year, the staff has spent over 3000 hours in
front of client families and over 400 hours in
telephone conversation. The ages for help-
ing are before birth to 18 or 19. Mr. Keillor
was thanked by Marie McTaggart and
presented with a gift.
Mrs. Wilma Hemingway, the first presi-
dent of the Majestic WI, told some

boxes to the shut-ins at Christmas time, they
restored Mr. Ainley's (founder of Brussels)
gravestone as a Centennial Project in 1967,
originated the Senior Citizens group in 1973.

the Child, the Institute sponsored a poem,

'theme. The Brussels winner was Carla King.
and the. Grey Central winner was Lynn
Winger.
• It was decided the Majestic Women's
'Institute would again donate to the C.N.I.B,
and the VVingham Day Care Centre. A
beautiful Anniversary Cake was served for
lunch which had been baked and decorated
by Peggy Cudmore,
The next meeting will take the form of a
Pot Luck Dinner at 12:30 on December 12,

shut-in boxes and a gift exchange valued at
$1.50. Roll call will be a verse from a
Christmas card.

executive three ballots be-
fore declaring Jim the
winner.
The following is the letter
sent to the W .0.A .A. on
Jim's behalf;
"We of Brussels Minor
Hockey, wish to enter the
name of Jim Prior, Brussels,
hit, for your annual Mike
Wiechel Award. Jim has
been outstanding in his ser-
vice to the community and a
faithful member of our Minor
Hockey. He reorganized our
Minor Hockey system in
1967-68, that gave the club's
moral a boost and got it
rolling in the right direction.
He held the position of
President; Secretary-
Treasurer; and then
secretary for our organiza-
tion. He also did his share of
coaching hockey over those
years. The last 7-8 years he
has devoted his hockey skills
to our beginners in hockey,
our own "Brussels Sprouts".
We fell it has created the
back-bone of our Minor
Hockey system and the suc-
cess of our teams in recent
years.
Am is a Grade V teacher at
the Brussels Public School
and assists in the Physical
Education program for the
boys at the school(
He was a W.O.A.A. con
vener for our district in the
1960's.
Brussels skaters placed
well at the recent Western
Ontario Sectional Compe-
tition held. 'in Preston on
November 15, 16, 17 and
18th for all skaters in West-
ern Ontario Section.
Kevin Wheeler and his
partner, 10 year old Christine
Hough of Kitchener won the
Pre-Novice Pair competition.
Kevin & Christine have only
skated together since July.
Kevin also placed second in
Juvenile Men competition,
pulling up from eight place in
figures with his first placing
in free skating to end up
second over all.
Catherine Cardiff and her
dance partner Keith Baker of
Woodstock ended up sixth in
Junior dance competition.
They were seventh after
compulsory dances, seventh
after set pattern and moved
up to sixth after free dance.
They have been skating to-
gether only since spring, and
this is their first competition,
so did extremely well as they
were competing against last
year's champs and several.
Canadian level pairs.
Carol Wheeler placed
seventh in Junior Ladies
competition. Carol was tenth
after figures, fourth in free
skate and ended up seventh
over 'all. Carol just passed
her test into this class two
weeks ago, then had to
qualify at sub-sectionals to
skate in this group, against
skaters who have skated in
Canadian competition. Two
of these skaters have passed
their senior ladies test and
after this competition, moved
up into the senior ladies class
& won first and third in that
class, so Carol had some
really good competition,
are all members of the
Brussels Figure Skating
Club.
Jim is a member of the
local Lion's Club. He has
acted as a Past President,
President, Secretary and
Treasurer in the Club. This
year he is acting on the
Sports for everyone in the
community.
Perhaps Jim's greatest
achievement began to take
place in 1976. He organized a
committee that year to look
into the possibilities of
building a new arena com-
plex for our community.
After all the information was
gathered and compiled, and
the decision was made to
proceed with the arena
complex, Jim was elected
Chairman of the building
project. He devoted endless
hours with planners, con-
tractors and financial per-
sons to see the project
through and completed. It
had to be his dream come
true when he accepted a
cheque from the Lion's Club
on August 11th of this year to
pay off the balance owing on
the arena complex. The
building now belongs to the
community and we're very
proud of it.
We feel Jim. Prior is very
worth of your award and
hope you give him serious
consideration for that
honour. Thank you we are.
Yours truly
Brussels Minor Hockey"
