Turn on oven. Clean
counter top of trucks,
soldiers and tinker toys.
Grease cake pan. 'Chop
walnuts. •
Put shortening and sugar
into bowl. Take shortening
from Johnny. Wash his
hands.
Measure dry ingredients
into sifter. Answer, phone..
Return to kitchen, newly
decorated with white dust.
Wipe up counter. Sweep
floor.
Remeasu' re flour. Remove
Johnny's hands from bowl.
Wash his hands. Wash your
hands. Answer doorbell.
Remove two pounds of sugar
from pans. Regrease pan.
Answer phone. Return to
kitchen. Pick up sifter, find it
also contains chopped
walnuts. .
Make grab for Johnny,
knocking bowl off counter.
Pick up broken pieces of
bowl. Wash kitchen floor,
walls, cupboard doors,
counter top, dishes, Johnny.
Telephone bake shop. Lie
down.
Yule Log Cake
YULE LOG CAKE
5 eggs 2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 cup Icing sugar 1 pint whipping cream
2 tbsp. flour
Separate eggs beat the yolks till thick
and add sifted icing sugar. Continue
beating till well blended and add cocoa and
four sifted together.
Beat egg whites till stiff but not dry, add
to the egg yolk mixture and beat hard 4
minutes. Pour into a shallow pan (jelly roll
pan) lined with wax Dauer.
Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes.
Turn out on a cloth sprinkled with icing
sugar allow to cool. Whip cream sweeten to
taste. Keep 4 tbsp. of whip cream for icing,
spread the rest on the cake and roll up like
a jelly roll.
To the remaining cream add cocoa and
icing sugar to spreading consistancy. Ice
the log cake. Draw lines with a fork to look
like a log and decorate wit little pieces fo
holly etc. for Christmas.

ALMOND CUP CAKES
1'/2 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup finely chopped almonds
Stir flour, baking powder, salt, and
sugar together. Beat together the milk,
eggs and melted butter. Add to dry
ingredients and beat 1 minnte - low speed
of electric mixer. Add vanilla and chopped
almonds; beat 1 more minute. Pour into
greased muffin pans and bake at 350°F. 20
to 25 minutes. When cool, frost as desired
and top with coars ely chopped almonds,
toasted or plain. Veld 11/2 dozen medium-
size cupcakes.
JEWISH - CHEESE CAKE
Craham Cracker Crust
11/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
mix well, pat into bottom and sides of 9 x
9 square. cake pan. Bake at 300 degrees for
10 minutes.
FILLING 2. 8 oz. pkgs cream cheese.
3/4 cup sugar (white)
1 cup sour cream
1 tbsp. flour
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Method: Beat cream cheese well, add eggs
one at a time - continue beating 10 mins. in
all while adding remaining ingredients.
Pour into' graham crust. Bake at 300•
degrees for 1 hour.
Top with any pie filler - but cherry and
apple is "great" topped with whip cream.
