OATMEAL SHORTBREAD
1 cup butter (do not substitute)
% cup brown sugar
21/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour •
Cream butter until fluffy. Add sugar
gradually. Add oats, mixing well. Add
flour, 1/3 cup at a time, mixing well after
each addition.
Roll on lightly floured board to 3/8"
thickness. Cut in 11/2 " rounds, place on
greased cookie sheet, and prick with a fork.
Bake at 3250 about 12 minutes. Recipe
makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.

CHRISTMAS BALL
4 oz. pkg. cream cheese
2 cups sifted Icing sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 'cup desicated cocoanut
pinch salt
Mix and divide in halk add few drops of
green coloring to one haIf red coloring to
other half. Add colouring before adding
cocoan...,. Put in fridge for an hoer. Roll in
balls then in coconut ,, for decoration
touch, place piece of candied cherry on top
of each ball.

2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
.1/2 cup butter
2 eggs,
1 teaspoon vanilla
11/2 cups finely chopped walnuts
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon instant coffee
Heat oven to 400* cream sugar,
shortening, butter, eggs and vanilla
together. Sift flour, baking powder, coffee
and salt together into creamed mixture and
blend well. Drop by teaspoon into chopped
nuts and roll around tro coat all sides with
nuts. Put on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 min. Cookies should still be
slightly soft in centre 44-5 doz.

3/4 cups mashed potatoes (no milk or salt)
cooled slightly'
add 1 lb flaked cocoanut
1 lb icing sugar (3 cups sifted)
1 tsp almond. flavouring
Method
Let potatoes cool and add other
ingredients, put in frig to cool well, then
roll in ball and shape to crescent shape.
Return to fig for an hour. Melt 2 squares
semi-sweet choclate and dip one end.

SALTED PEANUT COOKIES
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup Corn Flakes
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup salted peanuts
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 cups flour
Mix in order given. Bake in 'moderate
oven (350.F) about 10-12 min. or until
lightly browned.
