Add sugar gradually. Add oats, mixing well. Add flour, 1/3 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Roll on lightly floured board to 3/8" thickness. Cut in 11/2 " rounds, place on greased cookie sheet, and prick with a fork. Bake at 3250 about 12 minutes. Recipe makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies. COl FEE DROPS 2 cups brown sugar 1/2 cup shortening .1/2 cup butter 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla 11/2 cups finely chopped walnuts 2 cups all purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon instant coffee Heat oven to 400* cream sugar, shortening, butter, eggs and vanilla together. Sift flour, baking powder, coffee and salt together into creamed mixture and blend well. Drop by teaspoon into chopped nuts and roll around tro coat all sides with nuts. Put on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 min. Cookies should still be slightly soft in centre 44-5 doz. Return to fig for an hour. Melt 2 squares semi-sweet choclate and dip one end.
