Some were identified by local people and a letter came frorn Miss E. M. Fraser of Burlington, who was a Brussels resident some years ago, and was herself among the group in the picture. , She recalled the names of all but six. We are pleased that the picture created so much interest. , ** * * * It seems that swine breeders in our community are among the best in Ontario. They have been proving that time after time. Congratulations to Jan Van Vliet who had the, top indexing board in the November group at Ontario R.O.P. Swine Test. Also to Bodmin Limited who closely fcilloWed with two boars from their herd. * * *** * There is still another bazaar for you 'ladies to take advantage of before Christmas: St. Anibrose ladies will hold their bazaar and sale of home baking on Saturday, December He has been awarded his 25th, 35th and 45th year pins and this year the 50th year pin was presented by Glen Bridge, president of the Brussels. Legion branch. He was also ,presented „with, a .50 year" .medal by Clare Wall of the. Ontario Provincial Command of the Royal Canadian Legion, He is the only surviving charter member of Canadian Legion membership. 1st. This bazaar has an added attraction. Any of these would be a very acceptable (Continued on Page 16) Dog control worries council BY DEBBIE RANNEY The problems of dog control in the village came up again at Brussels council on Monday night. Especially mentioned were two particular cross dogs in the village and after much discussion it was decided that a letter should be written to their owners advising them that if their cross dogs weren 't tied up then someone would be deputized to dispose of them at the first opportunity. Council agreed that the village of Brussels would accept the extension of John Street according to the recommendation of Ross Jackson from the Ministry of Transportation and Communication and that the municipality would accept the responsibility (Continued on Page 16) A number of Brussels organizations and Brussels and area residents laid wreaths at the Remembrance Day services on Sunday. Three fires in Belgrave area There were three fires •within the Belgrave area this past week. On Tuesday evening fire broke out in Clarence Hanna's workshop which was gutted with fire inside. Early on Saturday morning at Mr. and Mrs. Ted Moran's ,home in the basement, but very little damage was done. On Satuday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Mathers on the, second concession of Morris Twp. There was considerable damage done by fire and water. ESTABLISHED 1t72 BRUSSELS ONTARIO was discussed, and a committee was formed to look after.it. The 1980 BBA stickers will be on sale with membership at $15 till the end of the year. After that, membership will be $18. The BBA Christmas party will be held on December 1 at the Legion with Stevens Country Gold (disc jockey) providing the music. Tickets will be sold at $15 a couple for the dinner and dance, and $5 a couple for just the dance.
