Institute met in the library at
8 p.m. President Dorothy
Steffler read a Thanksgiving
poem. Correspondence was
read by Ha McLarty. The
members are invited to a
Craft Show in Atwood Nov. 3
10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Arrange-
ments were made for the
bazaar (bake sale) & tea
being held Nov. 17.
Peg Cudmore reported on
the County Rally held Oct. 1
in Elimville.
Alberta Smith gave the
treasurer's report. The area
convention wine held Oct.
29 & 30 in Kitchener with
Marie McTaggart going as
delegate. Dorothy Steffler
offered to make arrange-
ments for the birthday party
at the Brookhaven Nursing
Home in November.
The conveners of the
Tweedsmuir - Book took
charge of the 'fleeting. Roll
call was answered by show-
ing a picture of your houSe,

Eleanor Hemingway gave
the motto "History is a fabric

the principals and teachers of
the Huron-Perth County
Roman, Catholic Separate
School Board will be holding
a county-wide professional
activity day at St. James
School, Seaforth.
The day will be in the form
of workshops with teachers
receiving input in the
following areas:
Primary Teachers (Grades
K-3)
a.m, Folktale
p.m. Christine Kelly (Speech
Pathologist) will be providing
input into speech and
language assessment and
follow-up activities.
Junior Teachers (Grades
4-6) a.m. Science; p.m.
Folktale.

Wilma Hemingway gave
the history of the opening of
the Huron Tract, by the
Canada Co. She also read a
history of Lloyd & Helen
Wheeler's farm, written by
Alec Grant. The brick house
was started in 1865, brick
brought from Egmondville
and the carpenters bill was
$120.
The settlers used the type
of trees as guides to choosing
their lots, as the type of tree,
indicated what the soil would
be in that area.
The Sunshine offering was
taken and and a card signed
by the members for a shut-in
member.
