The president, Mrs. Irene Blake, called the meeting to order with the League prayer. The roll call, "my contribution to my parish" was answered by 18 members. Following the business re- ports, several discussions took place. Nine delegates are to represent us at the Deanery meeting in Clinton on October 24. Mrs. Mari- anna Ryan and Mrs. Marg Van Nes are to coordinate the birthday party for the nurs- ing home. Members are asked to help with the upcoming bazaar December 1, especially by selling tickets for the draw, and assisting the committees for the various tables. If everyone helps it will be as big a success as last year, so members were asked to give it support! A discussion took place concerning the plight of "Bottle Fed Babies" in the third world. Members were encouraged not to buy Nestle products because of their involvement in selling form- ula to these families. Good turnout for walkathon Wingham Pro-Life Group met at the home of the Campeaus on Oct. 1. The results of the nation wide walkathon for the Inter- national Year of the Child were discussed. A good turnout of about 100 walkers from ages 10 and up were present, bringing in, pledges of about $3100. Proceeds of the walkathon to go to the Alliance for Life head office in Toronto, who research the matters of abortions, the aged, handi- capped and so many other aspects of human life. It was also moved to donate to the Wingham Hospital Fund, in hope of helping keep hospital beds open. Huronview enjoys special dinner Mrs. Elsie Henderson pro- vided the music on Thanks- (giving Sunday at Huronview, as Mr. Crich who is the regular organist was sick. Flowers in the Chapel on Thanksgiving Sunday were in memory of Mrs. Liver- more, who was a nurse here, and Mr. Slavin who was a resident. Flowers at the foot of the cross were donated by Marg & Albert Versteegden. \ Sunday evening Mrs. Luther held a service. The choir was in attendance and sang Jesus Come. Mrs. Elsie Henderson' played the organ, and Marg- aret McQueen sang a solo. Cecil Skinner played his vio- lin. Everyone enjoyed turkey in Monday, and Huronview Residents were no exception. Our compliments to our Diet- itian and her kitchen staff. Many favourable comments were heard Throughout the home concerning the meal. The Anglicans held com- munion on Tuesday morning. Mrs. Grace Peck held the painting class in the craft room also on Tuesday morn- ing. Tuesday evening the Vanastra Lion's club showed the film "Blue Skys" to the Residents free of charge. We would like to thank the Vanastra Lions for the even- ing at the movies. The Baking class spent Wednesday morning prepar- ing goodies for the bake sale on Friday morning. This ,bake sale will be for the Residents only and baking will be packaged with this in !mind. If I gain any weight this week, I'll be blaming the Clinton Legion ladies who catered to the CNIB thanks- giving supper on Wednesday evening. Following the del- iicious meal the Huron Strings entertained us with many musical number There was also a couple • readings done by Mrs. Bob • ,Taylor and Mary Trick. The Craft room was a busy spot on Thursday morning with needlework being done, baking and Mrs. Peck busy oil painting. Residents are invited down to the craft room any morning. If you ;don't want to work, just come (for a visit and a cup of coffee. Mr. Cecil Skinner con- ducted Bible Study Thursday .afternoon, as Mrs. Proudy will be away for awhile. Mrs., Elsie Henderson added to the service by playing the i organ. What's ur goal in life? This sign was hung up in Murray's barber shop where everyone would be sure to see it. But it looks as though the Brussels Bombers won't have another slugger to add to their team after all, unless they're thinking of having a mixed team. Friends and neighbours can feel free to watch Murray feeding the baby every four hours.
