purchase at Brussels stores participating in
the BBA $100 Friday night draws? The first
draw for a $100 bill will be made this Friday
night (October 19th) at Anna's Dress Shop.
You had better hurry up and do some
shopping in Brussels before Friday night
if you want a chance to be the winner of that
new crisp $100 bill this week. Remember
these $100 draws will take place every
Friday night from now until Christmas.
Brussels is the place to shop.

It seems that scarcely a month goes by
without at least one week of the month being
designated as the week of something or
other. Next week, October 21st to 27th, is to
Llitrtrition_Week" , the-them of which is
be "Nutrition Week" the i theme of which is
"Pure Delight, Snack Right." We are
constantly told that Canadians, children and
adults alike, are not the healthy specimens
we should be, that we do not eat the foods
we should. We might improve on that if,
during Nutrition Week, we give careful
consideration to our eating habits. One
mistake we make is spoiling our appetites for
good meals by snacking on "junk" foods,
candy, chips of all kinds, sweet pastries, etc.
These have little ore no food value and put
on unhealthy pounds. Instead of junk foods,
snack on fruit, raw vegetables such as
carrot sticks, celery, etc., peanuts, rye
crackers and cheese, yogurt, bran mitffinS. If
you must snack, Snack Right, experience
"Pure Delight."
A forensic medicine survey by Hamburg
University revealed that pills are surpassing
alcohol as a major cause of traffic accidents.
The problem is the indiscriminate use of
tranquilizers, sleeping pills, pep pills,
without medical advice, or the need for
them. Particularly dangerous is a combin-
ation of drugs. The taking of any such drugs
must be regarded as a potential traffic risk in
every individual, drivers and pedestrians.
Pain pills are also dangerous.

Christmas is going to be here before we
realize how fast it is approaching. This
means everyone will be rushing around
helter skelter preparing for the festive
season. Why not do some of your gift
selecting early and/or aid last minute frantic
attempts to finish your list? The Majestic
Women's Institute Bazaar on November
17th will give you an ideal chance to do that.
You are sure to find some lovely things
among those hand made articles that are just
right for Christmas giving. You can get out
of baking for that weekend as they will also
have a bake sale. After making your
purchases you can sit down and enjoy a cup
of tea in their tea room. Look for further
particulars.

Ughl What miserable weather was our lot
last week and over the weekend, rain, rain,
and more rain mixed with snow; cold winds
with tantalizing brief moments of sunshine.
The wind and rain played havoc with the
autumn beauty of the maples. The ground
was carpeted in red, yellow and russet, even
A scattering of green, as the trees were
almost stripped of their bright foliage. The
fallen leaves did not have a pleasant rustle or
fragrance as one walked through them for'
they were soaking wet. In spite of this we
lave little cause for complaint in comparison
with what took place elsewhere. The east
coast of the U.S. was blasted last week with
