THE BRUSSELS POST, OCTOBER 10, 1979 — Afternoon
unit plans
visits
Mrs. Thomas entertained
the Ladies of the Afternoon
Unit in her home on Tuesday
of last week. There were 16
members responded to the
roll call with a verse of
Thanksgiving. 14 visitations
were recorded. Mrs. Hem-
ingway, the president,
opened the meeting by read-
ing a Thanksgiving poem.
The Devotions were con-
vened by Mrs. Cudmore and
Mrs. M. McTaggart. Hymn
577, Come All Ye Thankful
People Come, was used as
the opening hymn. Mrs.
Cudmore, read the poem,
Thank You God for Every-
thing. The Scripture, Ps. 92,
was offered by Mrs. Hazel-
wood. A Boys Thanksgiving
was read by Mrs. McTaggart
An appropriate meditation
was given by Mrs. Cudmore,
Thanksgiving. H ow prone
we are to neglect in praising
God and giving thanks to
Him for his care, our health,
homes, families, friends and
an endless supply of gifts
and mercy; above all for His
love and saving grace. Too
many of us wait until trouble*
arrives to get down on our
knees. Then it may be diffi-
cult to approach Him.
An article from the Ob-
server entitled "What is
going in the UCW" was
suggested as an. interesting
study for 1980.
An invitation was received
from Blyth UCW to visit
them on Oct. 14 at 8 p.m.
Some discussion concern-
ing visitation to Callander
Nursing Home, as well as
help with crafts and enter-
tainment took place. A pro-
gram for October visits was
drawn up.
A request for children's
knitted wear came from the
Knitter's Group, i.e., slip-
pers, toques, *mitts and
sweaters.
Following a meditation
from Matt. 6:6 and prayer,
refreshments were served.
