The chance of Montreal
Expos winning the National
League East division is no
more. The Blue Jays finished
last in their division. This
ends the baseball fever that
has consumed Canadian fans
and cluttered the air waves
these past weeks. Now foot-
ball enthusiasts can settle in
their easy chairs, with handy
snacks, and enjoy their favor-
ite sport in the weeks to
come. Soon the hockey fan-
atics will glue their attention
on the TV screen. Pity the
wives and other ladies who
do not enjoy these sports!
Me? I will be right there,
forsaking all else, for my
favourite viewing.

Brussels Public School just
recently acquired a new
addition to its teaching staff.
Gale Johnston, 23, started
at the school last Tuesday
and will be teaching kinder-
garten part-time. Miss
Johnston comes from R.R.2,
Auburn but is now residing
in Brussels. She attended the
University of Waterloo where
she majored in history and
geography and then she wens
on, to teacher's college in
London.
The job at Brussels is her
first one as a teacher since
she just graduated from the
teacher's college. Because of
large enrolment in the kind-
ergarten this year pupils had
to be divided into two classes
Her job is to prepare the
children for Grade 1, getting
them ready to print, getting
them ready to read and
trying to use a lot of fun
activities to do so.
Miss Johnston's interests
include sports, sewing,
reading and music and she
says Brussels isn't a new
town to her as she used to
come over here with her
at Brussels PS
father to sales and things.
"1 like the area." she said.
