(Photo by Lang lois) Gorrie UCW Lists pet peeves Unit #2 of the Gorrie United Churchs "Theme" for the September 12th meeting was "Let there be Light" taken from the Books of Genesis and John and Psalm 18 given by Mrs. Cecil Grainger, saying "We, should all try to make a glimmer in the dark world, as many people have black outs in their lives and need help to cope with them". Mrs. Alex Taylor was hostess in her new home in Gorrie for the meeting. The president conducted the business and it was decided to cater to a 40th Wedding Anniversary in October. The Regional Rally was announced for October 2 in the Wroxeter United Church. A "Pet Peeve" that we have in our society or unit was the roll call. The unit is again taking orders for cards and gifts to be ordered by Sept. 30 for early delivery. After- noon tea was provided Mrs. Marie Schmidt, Mrs. Edgar Dane and the hostess. PERSONALS Mrs. Gordon Holt, Bluevale R.R.2, called on Miss Jean Sparling and Mr. Harvey Sparling last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. David Neil- son have returned from visiting Miss Elizabeth Neil- son of Red Deer, Alta. Mrs. Edward Bolander spent the weekend with her sister Mrs. Nellie Dredge of Palmerston. Mrs. Alex Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Taylor and Miss Margaret. Dane attended the funeral of the late Mrs. ,Wilson McCormick at the Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine on Saturday. Mr. John Leppington Sr. underwent surgery in St. Joseph Hospital London on Monday. Mrs. Gladstone Edgar re- turned from. University Hospital on Saturday. Mrs. Russell Powell underwent surgery at Listowel Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Delbert Clegg spent the weekend with relatives in Kitchener. Mrs. Harry Gowdy ac- companied Mrs. Harvey Coupland of Wroxeter on Tuesday and visited Mrs. Arnold Darroch of Clifford. Mr. Hugh Miller and Mrs. Walter Kaye of Detroit, Michigan spent Labour Day weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Raven and Lisa of Etobicoke visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Melville Dennis. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mundell of Wingham spent Satiirday in Mount Albert United Church. Mrs. Alvin Mundell and Miss Louise Matthews of Fordwich attended the Board meeting of the Maitland Presbyterial held at Kincardine last Monday. Mrs. Ira Neill of Wingham is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. George Brown and other friends. Sunday at the home of Mr: and Mrs, Alvin Mundell and all attended the Belmore Presbyterian Church Anniversary Service. Mrs. Howard Neable has arrived home after a trip to Scotland. GEORGE BROWN 335-3424 The ladies of Knox Presbyterian Church held their September meeting at the home of Mrs. Hugh Deighton. "Yesterday is only a dream, to-morrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow, a vision of hope", was the opening Call to Worship given by Miss Louise Matthews of I, HURON BRUCE P.C. Fordwich, President. "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessindwas sung and the Aim and Purpose and Lord's Prayer in unison. Mrs. Gordon Moir secretary read the minutes and cor- respondence. Arrangements were made for the Fall g' Thankoffering to be held in the Church on October 9th at Mrs. John Bell of White- N DINNER & DANCE 8 p.m. Guest speaker will be :4 White- church. The Hymn "Lead on 0 King Eternal" was sung. Mrs. David Lockie gave a very intersting account of E LUCKNOW COMMUNITY CENTRE Maoimi, known as the a LUCKNOW pleasant one. The singing of "Breathe on Me Breath of a God" closed the study period followed by the Benediction. Lunch was served by the hostess. :.=.
