Lynda Jean Mayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Mayer of Brussels and Kenneth Allan Smith, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Smith of Cranbrook were married on the
lawn at the home of the groom's parents on Saturday,
August 28. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Rev. Doctor Gordon Hazelwood officiated at the ceremony.
The maid of honor was Lee-Ann Newby of Burlington and
bridesmaids were Linda Knight of Belgrave, Kim Nyman
of Kitchener, Kathy Heibien of Palmerston and Mary
Lynne Mayer of Clinton. The flower girl was Jackie Newby
of Burlington and the, ringbearer was Fabian Ellis of
Palmerston. The groomsman was Greg Smith of Monkton
and ushers were Rob Smith of Ethel, Jeff Smith of
Cranbrook, Guy Stroop' of Fordwich and Rick Fleet of
Palmerston. Organist Mrs. Karen Cardiff played Brian's
Song and the Wedding March and soloist Susan Cardiff
sang Hawaiin Wedding Song and You Light Up My Life.
A reception was held in the Brussels Legion Hall and
guests came from London, Kitchener, Galt, Preston,
Stratford, Holmesville, Clinton, Goderich, Auburn,
Lucknow, Belgrave, Fordwich, Sarnia, Palmerston,
Listowel, Monkton, Ethel, Brampton, Terra Cotta, Milton,
Burlington, Collingwood, Brussels, Cranbrook and area
and Sarnia. Prior to the wedding, a community shower, a
family shower and a stag and doe were held in honor of the
couple. Following the wedding the couple took a wedding
trip to points south and will reside on Albert Street in
Brussels.

WARWICK—GROOT
Marianne Groot and Glen Warwick were united in
marriage Saturday, August 11, at St. Boniface Roman
Catholic Church, Zurich. The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Groot, Zurich, and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Warwick, Bluevale. The maid of hone.:
was Cheryle Beecroft of London, friend of the bride.
Bridesinaids were Elze Groot, Zurich sister-in-law of the
bride; Linda Warwick of Blyth, cousin of the groom; and
Jeannie Groot, Zurich, sister of the bride. The best man
was Doug Smith of London, friend of the groom. Guest's
were ushered by Peter Groot, Hensall, brother of the
bride; Scott Bridge, Brussels, friend of the groom; and
Neil Warwick, Bluevale, brother of the groom. After a
honeymoon to Niagara Falls, the couple is residing on the
groom's farm at Bluevale.

Majestic WI
sponsors 'course
The Majestic Women's
Institute met Wednesday,
September 12 for their
September meeting.
The District Rally will be
held Monday, October 1 at
Elimvale. Delegates from
Brussels are Peggy Cud-
more, and Doris McCall. The
Area Convention will be held
October 29 and 30 at Binge-
man Park, Kitchener, with
voting delegates from Brus-
sels being Dorothy Steffler
and Marie McTaggart.
A Short Course - "Indoor
Gardening" will be held in
the near future with the
leaders being Ila McLarty,
Peggy Cudmore and Wilma
Hemingway. A $10.00
donation to the Poppy Fund
will be sent this year instead
of the Wreath at the
Cenotaph on November 11.
The. Majestic Women's In-
stitute will celebrate its 40th
Anniversary on October 3
with a dinner and a trip to the
Blyth Centre for the Arts to
' hear the Woodstock Choral-
aires, The husbands are
invited.
The November meeting'
will be held one week early
on November 7 in the
Brussels Public School when
neighbouring Women's In-
stitutes will be invited.

THE BRUSSELS POST SEPTEMBER 19, 1979 --
The September meeting of
Melville Ladies Aid was held
at the home of Mrs. Alex
Steiss with an attendance of
16.
The meeting opened by
singing Bless be the tie that
binds followed by prayer.
The scripture from Luke 17
was read by Elsie Evans
prayer by Mrs. Matheson.
The hymn "Come thou
fount of every blessing" was
sung. Ruby Steiss gave the
secretary report. Berva
Dennis gave the finanical
report and Ethel Long the
sunshine report The roll call
was answered by lovely
poems and readings.

cribed as ghost towns such as
Henfryn, Sunshine, New-
bridge, Rogerville etc. in
Western Ontario, were read
about by Berva Dennis and
proved to be quite
intersting and will be just
history to the coming
generation.
The collection was taken
by Berva Dennis.
The meeting closed with
the benediction.
Winnifred Edgar con-
ducted a cat and a guessing
contest. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Margaret Kerr and
Miss Millie McFarlane as-
sisted by the hostess.
