A BIG CATCH—Lorne Strickler of R R 2,
Brussels, his wife Arlene and their two friends
Clayton and Dawn Riley of RR 4, Seaforth went
hunting this past weekend in Temagami and
came back with something really big--a black
bear weighing 503 pounds, the biggest bear
ever shot in Temagami. Standing beside the
bear is Lorne Strickler the one who shot it,
holding his dog Butch who found the bear..

David Moore, a Toronto
lawyer, has been appointed
as a fact finder to assist the
Huron County board of
education and its elementary
school teachers in their
negotiations.
Mr. Moore was appointed
by the Education Relations
Commission and he will pre-
pare a report on the
negotiations, identifying the
outstanding issues.
Mr. Moore is expected to
present his report within 30
days. The report will set
forth the positions of both
sides and may or may not
make recommendations on
settlement terms. The re-
port will be presented to both
varties.
John Cochrane,- director of
the Huron County board,
said the appointment of a
fact finder is mandatory
under the "famous Bill 100"
when salary negotiation set-
tlement isn't reached by
September 1. He said Mr.

Moore's job will be to find
out why things are dragging
on and what the solution may
be,
Mr. Cochrane said
negotiations could be settled
while Mr. Moore is still
completing his fact finding.
If the board and teachers
still haven't agreed on
salaries within 15 days after
the fact finder's report is
presented to both sides, then
the report will be made
public.
The Education Relations
Commission was established
in 1975 under Ontario
government legislation to
foster harmonious collective
bargaining relations between
school boards and teachers in
the province.

of about 150 yards.
The bear wasn't found
until the next morning as he
had been carrying on quite a
bit when he got shot, Mr.
Strickle said. Mr. Strickler's
dog Butch came out the next
morning and found the bear
but it was too heavy for the
two men to carry so they had

the bear out.
Usually when Lorne shoots
a bear or anything else, the
Stricklers use it for meat but
this particular bear was too
old for that so will be made
into a rug instead.
Lorne has been hunting
ever since he was 16 years
old and the Stricklers have
