Ken and Wayne Hopper hosted a roast beef supper in the arena for the Belgrave Kinsmen Club on Sept. 5th. Blake Evans chaired the meeting in the absence of president Paul McKee. John Dobell was the winner of the Chinese auction. The Kinsmen Club are donating $100.00 to the Kins- men National Disaster Fund Brussels UCW hears Mrs. Axtman A very pleasant afternoon was spent at the home of Mrs. De Vries when she entertained the members of the Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. on Wednesday. Mrs. Hemingway read a poem "God Needs Me". A verse of the hymn "What a friend we have in Jesus" was sung. Mrs. Lydia Turnbull led in prayer followed by the Lord's Prayer. The Scripture Isaiah 61:7 was read by Mrs. Cudmore followed by the hymn "Will your anchor hold?" The guest speaker was Mrs. Ruth Axtman. She had attended Camp Menesetung as well as Alma College during the summer. She outlined the courses given there and shared with the members the wealth of in- formation that she had acquired. She gave many helpful suggestions and pro- jects for programs and meet- ings. The mission study of Japan along with a Bible Study session would com- plete an interesting program. Many resource books were suggested by Mrs. Axtman 'such as "Exchange", "Get- ting it Altogether" and "Church Women."'Farables of the Bible and "Sharing My Faith" were also sug- gested. Many of these can be purchased or ordered from the Resource Centre in Mitchell. Members felt that Mrs. Axtman's hints and suggest- ions would be most helpful in making our Mission in Life more meaningful. The Belgrave Club provided 650 meals on Sunday at the Blyth Threshers Reunion and are planning a pig roast at the Horse-Shoe Pitching Contest at Roy Robinson's Farm on Sept. 15th. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cook spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cook and girls of Shelbourne who were at their cottage near Port Albert., Mrs. Norman Blatchford of Sudbury called on her cou- sins Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse last Wednesday while on her way to visit her husband who is a patient in the University Hospital London. Mrs. Olive Campbell and 30 members of her family gathered at the Benmiller The executive of the Clinton Wheel'n Dealers Square Dance Club met at the home of the President Gerald and Carol McDcwell R.R.1, Belgrave, September 4. The coming years activities were planned. During the summer the Square Dance Club entered a float in the Clinton Fair Parade June 2nd and won 1st Prize. On June 9th a summer dance in the Blyth Public School was well attended by the Huron Bruce Swingers Lucknow and the Clinton Wheel'n Dealers. It was one of those really hot, humid nights but oh, the fun and fellowship was there and the hamburgers and red' hots/ were excellent for lunch. On • June 30th we celebrated Auburn's 125th Brithday and even though it :rained, it certainly didn't dampen the spirits of those on the float. August 17 Some of our park on Sunday for a picnic. Those coming from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald. Campbell and boys of London and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell and Heather of Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Clare Van Camp were presented with a decorat ed cake in honour of their 30th wedding anniver- sary. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Van Camp of Guelph visited on Saturday with Mrs. Olive Campbell and attended the Thresherman reunion at Blyth. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Waterfk!d of Ottawa spent a couple of days last week with her uncles Douglas and Elmer Brude. Joanne Edgar and Dianne Scott left this week to attend College in Centralia. Mrs. Jack Henry of Belle- ville and her daugther Mrs. Roger May of Thornhill spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Wightman and also members put forth their talents for a Square Dance demonstration at Vanastra Fair. August 18 We held a Surprise Party honouring Hattie and Edwin Woods 50th Wedding Anniversary. Again dancers from the Huron Bruce Swingers as well as many other guests came and enjoyed the evening with us. Several members enter- :ained by having a hilarious "Mock Wedding". Stanley Mcllwain pre- sented a monologue — a tribute to Hattie and Edwin. Ross Merrill presented them with a gift from the club. On August 25th a great camp-out weekend with lots of activity was held at Point Farms. Many dancers from Lucknow area as well as the Clinton Wheel'n Dealers were present. Saturday after- noon was a Workshop, Saturday night, dancing in the barn. On Sunday several visited with other relatives in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Rod McLeod and family of Etobicoke spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Nelson Higgins. All attended the 30th wed- ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrss. Thomas Pletch of Brussels on Saturday in the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. The September meeting of . the Belgrave Women's In- ' stitute will be held Septem- ber 18 in the W.I. hall at 8:15 . p.m. The theme of the meeting is the International Year of the Child. Highlights j include debate--Resolved: That today's young people have a more difficult child- hood and adolescence than did the young people of 50 years ago. Sides: Donelda Lamont and Janice Coultes, and Mrs. Janisa Coultes and Mrs. Leslie Bolt. The lunch committee is Mrs. Ivan Wightman, Mrs. Walter Scott and Mrs. Ross Taylor. couples attended church in the Barn and after lunch went down to the beach to dance on the beach and in the water. Regular dancing for the Clinton Club beings on Wednesday, October 3rd at the Clinton Public School from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. If you would like to become a modern square dancer come to the Hullett Central 'Public School, Londesboro on Monday nights from 8:30 to 11:00 beginning October 15th.
