plines, meet new people (adults and
children). They will be in a totally new
environment. How they learn to cope with
these changes, in their young years, in the

"Keep farming til it's all gone"
Offered over $1 million for farm
BY DEBBIE RANNEY
Edwin Krauter who lives near Ethel
suggested a price of $1 million and $50,000
for his 500 acres of land and an interested
buyer from Germany has indicated he would
take it at that price. Mr. Krauter has mixed
Feelings about selling.
Mr. Krauter was first approached by a
real estate agent at the beginning of July
who wanted to know if he had 500 acres. The
real estate agent then said he had a client
who was interested in that amount. He asked
Mr. Krauter to put a price on the land and he
did--a price of $1million and $50,000. That
price included the property and the
, buildingsJon that property and would also go
with the conditions that. Mr. Krauter would
keep this year's crop and his equipment.
The real estate agent was around again
then phoned Mr. Krauter at the end of July
to say that his client was interested in
looking at the land at the quoted price.
So far Mr. Krauter hasn't seen the
German client who was planning to farm the
land himself.
Mr. Krauter said at the present time he
would still sell the land for the price he
quoted. He feels that land. values will
continue to inflate.
He says he has mixed feeling about how
people have viewed the speculated sale of
his land. "I would prefer to have had all the
people who were my friends when I was poor
still be my friends and I'm wondering if I do
sell if the money is going to change all that,"
he said.
He said he finds the financing of farming
under an ever increasing amount of pressure
and because of this he hopes he can keep on
making the right financial decisions on
farming.
But even if he does sell this land, Mr.
Krauter is likely to remain a farmer or as he
says, "In the words of a longtime older
farmer friend of mine, I think I'll just keep
on farming till the money is all gone."
