Seaforth parish
Sponsors refugees
St. James' parish, Seaforth is completing
the final steps to bring a family of
Vietnamese "boat people" to live in the
community.
Father H.J. Laragh said the next step in
the process is to talk with Canadian
immigration department officials.
The parish plans to sponsor at least one
family, which they will houie in the former
Macmillan home on the corner of Victoria
and Gouinlock Streets, which is owned by
the ,St. James congregation.
Father Laragh said in sponsoring a family,
the congregation must guarantee to support
them for one year. The priest said he hopes
the family will be arriving in Seaforth soon.
