of a proposed By-Law No. 6,
1979, of the Village of Brussels
for closing of certain laneways
Being a By-law under Sections 443 and 461 of the Municipal Act
R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, to close certain laneways in the Village of
Brussels and convey the lands so closed to the adjacent owners.
TAKE NOTICE that the Municipal Corporation of the Village of
Brussels, deem it advisable to close certain laneways, as they are
serving no useful purpose in their present conditions and location,
and are not being used for public purposes.
AND. THEREFORE TAKE NOTICE that the proposed By-law reads
as follows:
THAT the public laneways in the Village of Brussels hereinafter
described be stopped up and closed, and that the said laneways be
conveyed to the abutting owners on either sides of the laneway in
equal portions by applying to the Corporation of the Village of
Brussels for conveyances of the same and paying the'costs thereof:
FIRSTLY:
COMMENCING at the Southwest angle of Lot 359;
THENCE Northerly and along the Westerly limit of Lots 359 and 358
to the Northwest angle of Lot 358;
THENCE Westerly along the Southerly limit of Elm Street to the
Northeast angle of Lot 361;
THENCE Southerly and along the Easterly limits of Lots 361 and 360
to the Southeast angle of Lot 360;
THENCE Easterly and along the Northerly limit of Queen Street to
the point of commencement.
SECONDLY:
COMMENCING at the Southwest angle of Lot 357;
THENCE Northerly and along the Westerly limits of Lots 357 and
356 to the intersection with the Southerly limit of the Wellington,
Grey and Bruce railway right-of-way;
THENCE Northwesterly and along the Southerly limit of the said
Wellington, Grey and 'Bruce Railway right-of-way to its point of
intersection with the Easterly limit of Lot 363;
THENCE Southerly and along the Easterly limit of Lot 363 and 362
to the Southeast angle of Lot 362;
THENCE Easterly and along the Northerly limit of Elm Street to the
point of commencement.
THIRDLY:
COMMENCING at the Northeast angle of Lot 364;
' THENCE Southerly and along the Easterly limit of Lot 364 to its
point of intersection with the Northerly limit of the Wellington, Grey
and Bruce Railway right-of-way;
THENCE Southeasterly and along the Northerly limit of the
Wellington, Grey and Bruce Railway right-of-way to its point of
intersection with the Westerly limit of Lot 355;
THENCE Northerly and along the Westerly limit of Lot 355 and 354
to the Northwest angle of Lot 354;
THENCE Westerly and along the Southerly limit of Beech Street to
the Northeast angle of Lot 364 which is the point of commencement
of the parcel of land herein described.
FOURTHLY:
COMMENCING at the Northeast angle of Lot 366;
THENCE Southerly and along the Easterly limit of Lot"366 and 365
to the Southeast angle of 'Lot 365;
THENCE Easterly and along the Northerly limit of Beech Street tc
the Southwest angle. of Lot 353; ••''
THENCE Northerly and along the,Westerly limits of Lots 353 and
352 to the Northwest angle of Lot 352;
THENCE Westerly in a straight line to the Northeast angle of Lot
366 which is the point of commencement.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that anyone who wishes to object to
the passing of this By-law on account of the said laneways being
closed as above described, must file in writing their OPettion with
the Municipal Clerk of the Village of Brussels. on or before the 7th
day of August, 1979, and then he/she may by himself /herself or by
his/her Solicitors, appear before the next regular meeting of the
Municipal Councillot the Village of Brussels to be held on Monday,
August 13, 1979; at 9:00 p.m, and be heard.

Brown Swiss picnic
held near Belgrave

The Ontario Brown Swiss.
Picnic was held at Loreldo
Farms, R.R. 1 Belgrave,
Saturday July 21st. The
morning was spent visiting
and looking over the herd.
After a picnic lunch, the
Huron County Dairy Princess
Jean Siertsema •made draws
for door prizes which had
been donated by the follow-
ing local firms, Xtra Vim,
Co-operative Belgrave, Hur-
on Tractor, Daco, Harvestore
Trojan Corn, Wm. Tiffin
Imperial Esso Agent and
Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce Wingham.
Wilber Freeman and Glen
McNeil gave a demonstration
on clipping cattle for showing
and how to present them in
the show ring.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Grasby visited on the week-
end with Mr. and,Mrs. Gary
Leitch and family of London.
Jeffery Leitch returned home
after spending last week with
his grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Aus-
tin and Mrs. Mildred Camp-
bell of Seaforth visited with
Mrs. Willard Armstrong on
Sunday.
John, Ronald, Joanne and
Susan Hanna of Hanover
visited on Sunday with their
grandparents Mrs. Willard
Armstrong and with Willard
who is a patient in Wingham
and District Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Wheeler were accompanied
by Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Pickell of Vancouver, B.C.
on a three week motor trip to
the Eastern Atlantic Prov-
inces.
Mr. and Mrs. Pickell are
spending a few days in
Belgrave before returning to
their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hib-
berd visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Warren Zurbrigg of
Harriston on Sunday. Other
visitors at the same home
were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
Hibberd, Angela and Martin
of Mildmay, Mr. and Mrs.
Stan Zurbrigg and family of
Howick township, Mrs. Rob-
ert Campbell and family of
Winthrop and Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Lichty and Wayne of
Kitchener.
Mrs. Carrie Denbow of
Brandon Manitoba is hol-
idaying with Miss Zina Hop-
wood and happily renewing
acquaintances with Wing-
ham friends.
Mrs. Donald Whitfield of
Sault Ste. Marie, visiting
during the past week with
Mr. and Mrs. George Mic-
hie. On Saturday she attend-
ed the 10th reunion of her
graduating class from the
University of Guelph which
was held at the Mill in Elora.
Dr. Ronald Taylor of St.
John's' Newfoundland who
has been holidaying with his
parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Taylor and other relatives
returned home by plane on
Sunday.
The family of Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Robertson held
"Open House" at their home
in Wingham on Sunday to
celebrate their parents 35th
wedding anniversary. Many
friends neighbours and rel-
atives were present from
Palmerston, Lucknow, God-
erich, Bnissels, Belgrave,
Bluevale, Whitechurch,
Wingham and surrounding
area.
Mr. Thomas Armstrong of
Bodmin Ltd. held their
first annual production sale
Of purebred Shorthorns at
the farm of Charles Procter,
Tuesday, July 17.
An interesting and inform-
ative afternoon was enjoyed
by all who attended the sale
with a beef carcass on
display, a demonstrating of
quarter horses working beef
cows, a steak barbecue and a
weighing and ultrasonic fat
level demonstration. Charles
Procter, Mrs. George Procter
Donald Martin and Wendall
Richards, members of the
Brussels Legion Pipe Band,
piped the Bodmin herd bulls
on an inspection tour twice
during the afternoon.
Ernie King of T.V. fame
and his group from the Ernie
King Music Store at Wing-
ham provided enjoyable
London and his son. Jack of
Sault Ste. Marie visited last
Saturday with his brother
and sister-in-law Mr, and
Mrs. Mark Armstrong.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stone-
house visited with their
cousins Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Johnson of Mississauga, Mr.
and Mrs. William Birney of
Toronto on Wednesday and
Thursday of last week. They
were accompanied by Mrs.
Alkin Rann of Brussels.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert John-
ston attended the Forrest
re-union in Bircle Run,
Michigan on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Taylor
of Sarnia spent a couple of
days with Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Taylor.
ARMSTRONG FAMILY
A family gathering of
Armstrong relatives met at
the W.I. Hall, Belgrave, on
Saturday, July 14 with about
52 members present. This
was to celebrate Mr. and
Mrs. Mark Armstrong 59th
wedding anniversary which
was on June 30. Guests were
present from St. Clements,
Teeswater, Walton, Cran-
brook, New Hamburg, St.
John' s , Newfoundland,
Leamington and Belgrave
area.
Country and Western back-
ground music during the
beef barbecue.
The offering of 63 open
yearling Shorthorn Heifers
attracted brisk active bidding
under the auction hammer
of Bert Pepper from Neu-
stadt and resulted in an
average of $956.85 per
heifer.
Ringman Joe Steeves of
Moncton, New Brunswick,
Craig Andrew of Qu'Appelle,
Sask., Ronald Shelley of
Gorrie, Ontario took the bids
and the 16 breeding bulls
offered, fetched an average
of $1,010.95, bringing the
overall sale average on males
and • females to $969.70.
Bodmin cattle are being
delivered from Prince Ed-
ward Island to B.C.
