Mrs. Clare Veitch was
hostess for the June meeting
of the W.M.S. of Knox
Presbyterian Church.
The meeting opened with a
reading "Nature's Garden",
The Hymn "For the beauty
of the earth", was sung and
Mrs. Veitch read a bit about
the fig tree. Scripture
reading pertaining to the
barren fig tree were read in
unison from Matt 21 and
Luke 13. All repeated the
Lord's prayer and "This is
my Father's World" was
sung with Mrs. Stewart
Steiss at the piano.
The topic from the study
on China, "The Human
Dimension" was given by
Mrs. Jack Knight. The
business was conducted by
the president, Mrs. Stuart
Stevenson, with Mrs. Knight
reading the minutes and
Mrs. Veitch giving the
treasurer's report. Twelve
members were present and
the roll call was a verse on
"Father".
Mrs. Stanley Fishcer
reported on the June
Conference held in Monkton.
It was announced that the
garage sale was a financial
success. A poem
"Kindness" was read by
Mrs. Jim Hart. Closing
Hymn was "Thank you,
Lord" and the Mizpah
benediction was repeated in
unison. Mrs. John A. Perrie
and Mrs. Stiess assisted the
hostess with lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn
had all their family home on
Sunday for Father's Day and
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Machan
Listowel -also visited there.
On June 4th, the
Cranbrook W.I. met at the
home of Mrs. Leslie Knight.
The President, Mrs.
Gordon Engel, welcomed the
4-H girls and other guests.
Mrs. W. Strickler intro-
duced the guest speaker,
Ron Walker, from Ontario
Hydro. Through Mr.
Walker's presentation and
the slides shown, members
found numerous ways to
conserve energy without any
discomfort by thinking of
what is needed, and by being
conscious of the best way to
run. things , especially
appliances.
Mrs. J. Vanass thanked
Mr. Walker for his
presentation.
A short get acquainted
session was held and ended
with seven of the 4-H girls
being introduced by one of
the ladies present.
Mrs. C. Veitch shared
some current events on soem
Canadian Industries.
The W.I. decided to renew
their membership in the
Historical Society.
Through a show of hands it
was decided that the play the
members would prefer to see
in Blyth would be "I'll be
back for you before
Midnight".
Mrs. L. Knight gave a
report from the District
Annual.
It was decided that the
W.I. would cater to Mr. and
Mrs. Bert VanDonkersgoed's
25th Wedding Anniversary
Supper at 7:00 p.m. on
Friday, July 13th.
Members discussed house
cleaning the Cranbrook
Community Hall. It was
decided that everyone would
try to donate some time for
this. A list of volunteers
has been taken for cleaning
dishes and cupboards.
The meeting was closed
with lunch being served by
Mrs. B. VanDonkersgoed,
Mrs. T. Baker, and the
hostess Mrs. L. Knight.

During the week June
4-10, 1979, officers at Wing-
ham detachment conducted
forty-eight investigations.
During the week, there
were three motor vehicle
collisions which caused an
estimated $4,600.00 in prop-
erty damage and injuries to
one person.
On Sunday, June 10, 1979,
Donald A. Nolan of R.R. 1,
Walton received minor in-1
juries. Mr. Nolan was west-
bound on county road 25,
west of county road 12, '
Morris Township when a dog
ran into the front tire of his!
Honda causing Mr. Nolan to
fall off his motorcycle and
roll into the south ditch. •
