family, Dorothy, Tommy,
Billy and Gerard gathered for
a social evening at the bonne
of Ken and Judy Shortreed
recently to bid them farewell
prior to their moving last
Mrs. Don Robertson of
Kinlough presided at Mel-
ville Presbyterian Church
Brussels for the May meet-
ing of Maitland Presbyterial
and opened the afternoon
session with thoughts on the
theme, "Prayer." Mrs. Wm.
King Jr. was organist.
Devotions were conducted
by Mrs. Orville Taylor, Mrs.
Walter Burton and Mrs.
George Turner of Kincardine
W.M.S. In Mrs. Burton's
meditation, she urged the
meeting to'pray at all times"
and added "We should turn
week to Pennsylvania. They
were presented with a
blanket and a macrame wall
hanging with Walton on it,
made by Carol Blake, Lunch
was served by Alice Searle,
Carol Blake and the hostess
Judy Shortreed.
We wish the Weavers well
in their new home and
welcome Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene DeJong of Goderich
to the community , who have
moved into the house on the
ninth line of Morris. It was
the former Jack Taylor farm.
Recent Sunday evening
supper guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Huether, Steven
and. John were Mr. Jack
Webster Edmonton, Albeta,
and. Mr. and Mrs. Watson
on Wall of Wingham. The
afternoon session closed with
a hymn and prayer by Mrs.
Don MacAdam, Belmore.
The ladies of Brussels
church served supper.
The evening session began
with a hymn-sing led by
Mrs. Bob Bregman of Tees-
water. The theme song of
Maitland Presbyterial was
included. Mrs. Don Robert-
son presided and spoke on
the them "Share" as a call to
worship.
Devotions on the theme
were conducted by Mrs.
Murray Underwood, Mrs.
Bob Campbell and Mrs. John
Donaldson of Wingham Go-
forth. In the meditation,
Mrs. Campbell told members
to share good news from God
and share others' feelings.
"Learn to listen and encour-
age others," she said.
Mrs. Joe Martin welcomed
the ladies to the evening
session. Carla and Chris
King, children of the organ-
ist pleased the audiences
with two duets, "Abide in
our Hearts," and. "Light of
my Life."
In the announcements, the
next Synodical will be at
Brantford, Ladies' Camp at
Kintail June 15-17, and
members were asked to save
this year's Glad Tidings for
material on the new study.
Knox Church, Bluevale
extended an invitation for
next year's meeting at their
church. Miss Maudie Fisher,
Lucknow gave courtesy
remarks.
Webster, Clinton. Mr. Jack
Webster remained for a few
days before visiting other
relatives in the Lucknow
area.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Blake
held a family picnic Sunday
evening at their home to
honour his parents Mr. and
Mrs. George Blake on their
34th wedding anniversary
which is June 6th. There were

sung by Mrs. Gibson and her
daughter Mary Douma.

brought greetings from

and expressed appreciation
for the work of women in the
church. An honourary
membership was presented
to Mrs. Burns Moffat, Blue-
vale by her daughter, Mrs.
Glenn Golley on behalf of the
Presbyterial.
Ted Smith, National Co-
ordinator for the Second
Century Advance for Christ
was introduced by Mrs.
Alvin Mundell, Gorrie. In his
remarks he explained the
program included prayer and
bible study, witness and
outreach and thirdly, financ-
ial response. The project was
planned by the General
Assembly in thankfulness for
what God had done for the
church in the first 100 years.
Books and other literature
have been prepared and are
available to all congregations
Mr. Smith urged members
to go back to their own
churches and help the project
to advance. He showed pic-
tures of different aspects of
the work across Canada and
how the money will be used.
Mrs. Lyman 'Sutton, 'Tees-
water, conducted an In
Memoriam for members who
had died.
Synodical „reports were
given by Mrs. Walter Burton
Mrs. Herb Buckton, and
Mrs. Morgan Henderson.
The theme of the Synodical
held in Goderich was "The
Light of the World."
