On May 25, the Grade 3
students at Brussels. Public
School received a reply from
their Pencil Pals in Brampton.
This project was organized
by the Ontario Youth Secre-
tariat in connection with this
special Year of the Child.
Four letters received read as
follows:
Dear Linda:
My name is Lisa. I live in
Brampton, Ont, Canada. I
am 81/2 years old. My
hobbies are swimming, ten-
nis, and much more. There
are four people in my family.
My father is the owner of the
Colosseum Restaurant. My
mother is a housewife and
my brother is a student at the
Chingoasy Secondary School.
He is in highschool. My best
friends are Sabrina Vannelli '
and Felicia Di Battista. At
recess we play skipping.
Thank-you for the picture.
Yours truly Lisa
Dear Greg
I am nine years old. There
are four people in my family.
I have one brother and four
cats. Two of them are babies.
This year they are building
us a new bigger school. They
have all already started to
build it and when the, sum -
mer holidays end it will be
finished, but they will 'Still
have to put in the black
boards and all sorts of stuff
that goes inside. My favour-
ite subject is art and super
silent reading. Just Wednes-
day we went on a trip to
Terra Cotta conservation
area. I like to play soccer,
baseball, and pool. I would
be happy if you could send
me another letter.
Yours truly
Billy Pisocky
The students were 'very
excited after reading their
letters and began sharing
them with others in their
class. Several enclosed pic-
tures. May of them have
never experienced the plea-
sure of a letter of their very
own. Thus notivated, they
immediately took pencil in,
hand and began sharing their
thoughts and ideas with their
new found friends, many of
whom were of Italian extrac-
tion.
