The past 32 years have been rewarding and this con- ference is to be a means of informing the women that they may go home with knowledge and encourag- ment to continue this project. Miss Molly McGhee, the Director of Home Economics Branch, Ministry of Agri- culture and Food spoke of the need for women to motivate the public particularly the• young people to be immu- nized. She is hopeful that Canadians will develop a greater appreciation and improve their rights and opportunities for self- fulfilment. In 1903 the Ministry pro- vided one Home Economist and this year had 40 plus 2 specialists who reached 70,000 through their short courses. Miss McGhee praised the Women's insti- tute for providing more than 5,000 volunteer leaders. Appreciation was ex- pressed to the Hon. Wm. G. Newman, Minister of Agri- culture and Food who took time from his busy schedule to bring greetings and express his thanks to the Women's Institute who are making an investment in the future through their work. David Roberts, Research Co- ordinator Ministry of Rec- reation and Culture address- ed the delegation and later conducted an informative, que"Slion and answer plen- ary session. With the tre- mendous upsurge in Histor- ical research he felt the Women's Institute Tweeds- muir Histories will become increasingly recognized. Though each book may vary still it will tell the history of its community. Mr. Roberts recommended the books be mi:c rofilmed and the film will be kept in the Archives in Toronto. Some groups will be compiling local history books. The Curators were chal- lenged to research and pre- serve the past for the next generation.
