Brussels Cadets officially became a Corps
on Tuesday May 1 when the area cadet
inspector and the area cadet officer from
London approved them.
The Brussels Legion is sponsoring the
Corps and will assist with funds and space to
parade among other things. On this
sponsoring committee are chairman Al
Nichol, Glen Bridge, Ted Elliott and John
Sims.
Rosemarie Vandenberg is now the corn- _
manding officer of the corps and Kang Yoon,
Carl Graber and Elaine Nichol are civilian
instructors who will be applying for Officer
status. In order to get this they will take
training courses,
The men who approved the Brussels
cadets on Tuesday night were Lt. Elreckle-
manh ; area cadet officer and Warrant officer
Rafters, area 'Cadet inspector who will visit
Brussels every six weeks or so to check on
the progress of the Brussels group.
On Tuesday night the inspecting officers
checked the corp to see that it met parade
qualifications and other cadet requirements
as well as inspecting the cadet quarters.
They gave their approval and according to
C.O. Vandenberg, "the cadets were really
thrilled about it.”
Interest in joining the Brussels Cadet
Corps also seems to be growing. When first
started there were about 18 or 20 cadets.
Now that number has increased to 44 and
CO. Vandenberg said they're shooting for
50 very shortly. Most of the cadets come
from the Brussels, Blyth and Belgrave areas,
The Cadets are also going to be involved
in interesting subjects with Carl. Graber and
Kang Yoon joining them. Mr. Graber will
diScuss Model aircraft part-time and in the
fall Kang Yoon will be teaching karate.
