Maurice Francis, Thamesview, will head Huron-Perth Presbytery of the United Church of Canada at the rise of Conference in May. He succeeds Harold Knisley, Goderich, the first lay chairman since Huron and Perth Presbyteries amalgamated 11 years ago. After being introduced to the court Rev. Francis out- lined his priorities for the new year. World Outreach and camping are two areas he is particularly interested in. The session was held at North St. United Church, Goderich on April 24. Vice Chairman is Rev. Rae Grant, Listowel. Rev. Eric LeDrew, Brussels and Joe Snider, Goderich will con- tinue as secretary and treasurer. Division chairpersons elec- ted were: Communications, Mrs. Myrtle Walkom, Thamesview; Finance, Rev. James Vanslyke, Seaforth; Ministry, Personnel and Education, Rev. John Oestreicher, Clinton; Mission in Canada, Rev. Ross Cummings, Stratford, and World Outreach, Rev. Bruce Eaton, Sebringville. Standing committee convenors elected were: Archives, Rev. Ross Cum- mings; Manse, Rev. John Wood, Goderich; .Oversight, Rev. William Moore, St. Marys; Pastoral. Relations, Rev. Norman Pick, Clinton, Mrs. Eglisson also pointed out that the person in the pew must do a great deal of thinking about the ministry of women, referring to the larger number of women now in theological schools. Sixty-five per cent of Lon- don Conference churches have declining memberships stated Rev. Morley Clarke a Conference staff officer. The problem was the basis of a study during a three-month sabbatical. He told of visiting four churches which are reversing that trend. MINISTERIAL CHANGES The court was advised that Rev. (Photo by Langlois) Brussels minister secretary On Saturday, April 28, 1979, Donald A, Ritchie of RR 5 Lucknow was involved in a single car accident on the "B” line road, east of Highway 114, when his vehicle entered a ditch, struck and broke a wire fence and three posts owned by Joseph A. Walker of RR 4, Wingham. Kelly A. Cunningham, a passenger in the vehicle, received minor injuries as a result of the accident. THE BRUSSELS POST, MAY 2, 1979 — Man injured east of Highway No. 4 On Monday, April 23, 1979, Brian J. Jefferson of RR 1, Belgrave and Linda E. Gingerich of RR 3 Wingham were involved in a collision on Huron'County Road #22 at Concession Road 10-11, East Wawanosh Township. Both drivers received minor injuries as well as. Edna Jefferson of RR 1 Belgrave, a passenger in the Jefferson vehicle and Barbara Gingerich, of RR 3, Wingham, a passenger inthe Gingerich vehicle. gati9n. The court was told that Rev. Daynard was commended by Conference for his contribution to the church. A controversial discussion followed a suggestion to ask :he Ministry of Health and Welfare to rescind its order .o decrease hospital beds. the result was'a directive to study alternatives and pre- sent them to the Ministry. Serious concern was expressed for senior citizens. The 22-year history of Singtime was presented by Joe Snider. Rev. John. Oestreicher conducted the worship service. •
